IC History

\"Daddy,\" said Britta, \"can you tell me and Anna the story about the Guardians again?\"

\"Will you never tire of this story, my dear?\" said Bjorn through a smile. \"Of course. Have a seat.\"

Bjorn leaned back in his chair with the fire roaring in his small home. He began, and the voice of a storyteller emerged.

\"As the Klyros began to emerge from the portal into the labyrinths, Laanx attempted to command their allegience. None would bend and one by one they fell. In his anger, Laanx left his attempts to cow them and instead showed them the way to Yliakum that they might pester Talad. They would not serve him either.

As relations between Laanx and Talad grew even more strained with each god vying for greater allegiance and increased subservience the culture and peace that had occasionally graced Yliakum began to degrade. First Talad and then Laanx would sway the people\'s hearts. They would struggle against each other and then the followers of one of the gods would begin to take control and a measure of peace, whether in freedom or in control would be established. But as their followers continued to rule, the freedom fell to chaos and the control to constriction. The pendulum continued to swing with only short bursts of peace, prosperity, and balance between freedom and control.

The Klyros saw this travesty and began to build a resistance to fight back. An order to ensure that neither good nor evil would rule the world of Yliakum. Enlisting the help of the other races of Yliakum, they founded the Guardians of the Phoenix.

And they warred, we fought against good and evil, simply to ensure that neither would gain unopposed control. Their opposition was divided; they would not put aside differences to defeat a threat they saw as weak and fleeting. By the time they realized the threat we posed, it was too late. The victory was neither swift nor bloodless, but in the end, we won. We were able to maintain the balance between the followers of Laanx and Talad, between the purveyors of good and evil. And Yliakum saw prosperity and peace.

But as all tales of this age, it does not end there. In the Guardians of the Phoenix, Laanx and Talad saw an unprecedented threat to either\'s domination. Neither would rule unopposed while we existed. They banned together and destroyed the guild and all remnants of it. They were free to bicker and quarrel and throw Yliakum into chaos. And they did. All that we had worked for was destroyed in a quick 4 years. The memory of the Guardians of the Phoenix receded into the back of people\'s mind. It was soon gone and nothing more than a legend among the most respected Klyros loremasters.

Time passed. Centuries fell. And Yliakum sweltered in its decadence.

A young Klyros named Kraith saw how Yliakum lived and wondered why it could not prosper in peace, free from the constant domination by good or evil and the perpetual changing of power. He went to his uncle bothered by the instability and chaos that Yliakum seemed enmired in. His uncle saw in Kraith the hope of rebirth of Guardians of the Phoenix. So they disappeared and sought out the last remaining ancestor of Chaltok, the last Prytanis, burned to death for refusing to submit. They found him. His name was Kairtan. It took them some time to convince him they were not looking to kill or deceive him. Finally, entranced by the prospect of restoring order to Yliakum, he taught Kraith and his uncle what the Guardians stood for and how they accomplished their goals.

Kairtan presented them a book, The Lore of the Phoenix, and died. They buried Kairtan and opened the book. It was the journal of all the Prytanis from the first to the last. It explained in greater depth the structure and order and purpose and means to achieve the victory they did. It also showed how the Guardians lost. Refreshed by this discovery, Kraith and his uncle set out to start the Guardians.

On their journey back, they were attacked by brigands and rogues. Kraith\'s uncle was pierced through the wing and unable to fly away. He told Kraith to flee and start the Guardians. Kraith would not leave his uncle to die at the hands of such men. His uncle growled at Kraith saying \"Son, I am dying. And I have been since you found me. You cannot save me. Do not try. By your vigor, you have given me more time than I thought I would have. Start the Guardians of the Phoenix, Prytanis. Now go.\" Understanding the necessity of forming the Guardians, Kraith flew never looking back. Knowing his uncle was dead, he began with renewed vigor.

He slowly encouraged and convinced others of the necessity of the Guardians\' success. And those others joined. While still small in numbers we are growing. And our mission will not fail, order and balance will return to Yliakum.\"

\"Now, little missies, I believe it\'s time for you to go to bed. We have a big day tomorrow,\" said Bjorn as he carried his young daughter and her best friend to bed.

The Klyros dressed in a dark monk\'s robe sitting in the corner lifts his body from his comfortable slouch and pulls the pipe of smoking Diaboli ferns out of his mouth. He speaks in a brooding voice...

huh, another protective guild eh? Come, tell us the story of how you came to found this guild, perhaps you will reverse my first impressions... but I doubt it.

The Klyros takes a sip of his ale, and returns to smoking his pipe.

More detail..more info...and a site??

Also my char was invited to your guild due to random invite (mass recruitment). Not a good start to make.
Talamir - DeT, Dark Empire, etc, etc, etc.

Ouch, yeah, I agree. Mass recruitment is not good. I repeat Not Good and as soon as a site, more info, everything, yeah.
