STR and skills!
« on: August 25, 2005, 09:51:40 am »
Hello, everyone, I?ve been playing in PS for quite a long time in these days, but I cannot understand something about STR skill and skills in general.

My problem is because I?m quite newbie and after killing a lot of monsters in-group with other players I gained a lot of trias and I bought a Long Sword. As you know, you need a lot of STR power to handle this weapon, so I begun to train my STR with NPCs, ok?

Now my question is concerning about ?Skill and Stats? view: when I open the window I can see the Stats box that indicates the values of STR, agility, Endurance, Intelligence, ?, followed by a value: 55, 55, 55, 55, ?, ok?

Under this box, there?s the list of the Powers: HP, Mana, Fatigue, ok?

Under this there?s the Skill List, and here comes the problems: every skill is written with a numeric value and a little bar chart: every skill has two bars: one blue and one yellow: what does it mean this? Is this the distinction between theoretical and practical? Why in some skills the blue or the yellow bars are not upped to 100% but filled with a red background?

Another question, while training STR, I notice a green bar increasing over the yellow? is there my theoretical knowledge increasing? But the main question is: why the STR?s value remains 55 even after the training?!?

I want to use my new Long Sword! Please help me!

Thankyou, Bye
Luck!

Blue bar filled = you\'ve enough progression points as to level up in that skill
Blue bar = amount of progression points. The higher the level, the higher the amount required.
Yellow bar = theoretical knowledge required
Red bar = practical required to advance
Green bar = your current progression

Stats are full payed, so no practical part, you pay like if it\'s all theoretical.

Why don\'t you rank up? Simply, you\'ve to fill completely the yellow bar of STR with green, since STR is a stat.

For skills: Fill again completely the yellow bar, and begin practicing enough the skill to rank up.
Are there any MoonSeekers left?

if your str value is 55 you will need to train 15 times (use 15 progression points) to reach level 56, it will be like that until level 60, then you will need to train more each time.
<Rux> i wish i could say that narrows it down, but the internet is one freaky place

I had a broadsword that required high End, at the time it was 101, i progressed it to 110, still needed more, I got rid of the sword

I\'m also slowely but surely getting my Axe skill to 13, but whats the point when its the weapon damage that counts i have 124 Str as well, its wery disconcerting when you watch someone with skill level 4 doing twice the damage you do just because they have a super weapon.

sad but still playing

I\'m just a bit unhappy that strength hardle raises damage at all. I gained like 80 levles in it and my damage went up about 3.

But keep in mind the balances are still being worked out and all, so I don\'t complain :D

Yes the stats are confusing.

The thin blue bar is the amount of training in that skill your accumilated PP will get you, the green part is how much training you have and the yellow is how much training you\'ll need. Once the yellow is all green, you have to practice by using that skill and the now completely green bar will grow to take up all the red. Then you level up.

Some skills are all yellow, meaning you just train and you don\'t need to practice.

Guild Knights will return. When I feel like it.

since I hate creating new threads, and this one is on a similar topic, I will ask here.

I\'m trying to train my stregth stat higher in order use a weapon I found.  I trained it to level 90 from the person by the gates to the city, and then he wouldn\'t train any higher.  I asked my fellow guild members where might I go to train it higher and they suggested the pesron in the arena.  I tried talking tto the person there, but when I try, the train skills list for that pesron is still blank and I am not able to train it any higher.  My question, I am missing something or is there another trainer I need to see first in order to then use the one in the arena?

Er... What, exactly, determines damage with a weapon?  Skill level?  Strength??  Endurance???

Also, if you have a high intelligence and a high skill in Red Way (magic), can you do more damage with a fireball?
