Freezes on Loading, after all this!?!
« on: September 25, 2005, 10:33:52 pm »
As I select my character then click \"Join Game\" or whatever it says, it begins to load... The message requesting world, world loading appeare, i get the MOTD, and that little tip in the corner of the screen. it usually gets about 1/5 of the way full and then just stops, thus stops running and I have to end task PS...

Things Ive done-
Updated Graphics Card
Set PS on 16bit, comp is on 24bit
Run PS in a 800x600 res in a window
Turned Sound Off
Turned Fire Wall Off
Turned Virus Protection Off

I dont get a run time error or anything, i stopped getting those awhile ago, it just stops running....anyone have any answers?

I can think of nothing but to make sure you\'ve updated PS with the Updater program. If you\'re having trouble with that, see Talad\'s sticky thread on the subject.

Also, please resize your signature. Max length is 500px, thank you. :)

Load all maps seems to not be working, maybe check that off.

If i try to load all maps it gets to \'loading GUI\' and just stops :)

you shouldnt have to turn off firewall or virus protection... if someone says you should then that is a sign they are a hacker... because how good is it when someone puts:
turn off firewall and virus protection and then try to run planeshift... thats pretty much like leaving your doors and windows open at night...

Eh.... no.

There have been problems with firewalls not allowing a clean connection to PlaneShift, and it sometimes takes a few tweaks to sort out. It\'s not a sign of anyone being a \"hacker\"... honestly that\'s a really silly thing to say.

Maybe you should search around ;)
Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?
Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

What you should be doing, is fixing whatever problem is with your firewall or anti-virus; turning them off is just the lazy (dumb) way to do that.
