Hey, I just downloaded the Alpha and have yet to install it on our new \"family\" computer. My dad is real paranoid about games that I download from the internet, but I will get to talking and will soon install the game. The graphics from the screenshots look terrific, and from what I hear from other members this is going to be a great game, I am really excited to have found it.

Now I dont have much time to surf these huge forums but I was wondering if you could answer a few questions for me

1. Is it easy to install, meaning: is there anything I need to do after installing it (editing .cfg files etc.)
2. This game is free, and will it continue to be free?
3. what are some of the features in this game, and is it never ending or will it have one final quest etc?

The game is easy to install, and does not contain any virus Read the sticky posts on this forum and look for the question reguarding sound , it is the onl adjustment you should have to make.

I\'ll just make it easy for you and say:

1.  The sound bug is the only one needing to be fixed.  I don\'t really know how.  Check this forum.

2.  According to the team, it will always remain free.  On the website they said their entire purpose was to create a free game.  Dunno if they\'ll have second thoughts or not, but I doubt it\'ll become pay to play.

3.  The game is endless.  Or, at least it will be when you can do more than talk.  There will be many quests.

hello voldengrath. ur questions have been answered quite well already, but they failed to mention that this is a tech demo. u cannot do anything other than walk and talk and most of us never go in there anyway. we\'re all just hanging around the forums and irc until the next release.

as they said its just a tech demo, but if your disappointed with it dont worry, their having another release soon (or so we think ) and it will be A LOT better!

You can tell your dad that if we were making viruses here, we wouldnt\' bundle them in 50MB downloads, but instead put them in 32KB files with names like Anna Kournikova.jpg.exe  or whatever.  :-)

welcome to planeshift. it doesnt have a virus any official mmorpg you download from the internet isnt going to have a virus.

In all my years in computing ive personaly had only 1 viruse pop up, and it wasnt a major or even a minor viruse just some stupid one called PC_marbug for some thing. And considering some of teh dubiouse stuff ive downloaded and used, and gotten from friends heh, i must be either realy lucky or people very much over exagerate the frequencies they get viruses.

Then again ive downloaded teh PS client and i can assure its viruse free.

Just make sure you get it off the Offical site, and not some fan mirror link or anything like that.

Well just after that welcome note I made, I got grounded.

FoREVER!

Im finally back and am not gonna install the Alpha, but rather wait til the end of this month (Nov) when I heard the game will be released!

THEN ILL INSTALL!! I cant wait to play this game it looks so great. If any of the techie guys needs some ideas of stuff to include in the game, im willing to dish some out!
