Can't Select NPCs
« on: February 13, 2005, 03:35:24 am »
Here\'s a new problem following this evening\'s update: I can\'t select an NPC by clicking. I have to use the \"Next NPC\" shortcut, and when I do, I don\'t see the selection rosette so I\'m not sure exactly which NPC I\'ve selected. When I right-click on a dead rat, I don\'t see the context buttons to loot the corpse; I also can\'t type the /loot command because the >fear bug (described in some other thread, I forget which) has returned. The only way I can interact with anything is through the shortcut pallette; and if I have to create a shortcut for everything, I\'ll soon run out of shortcuts! :(

Edit: The \"can\'t click\" part of the problem turned out to be a jammed Alt key (there\'s no smiley for \"blush!\" ) However, I still don\'t see the targetting rosette, and I can\'t type commands because the chat window changes \"/command\" into \"/say fear/command\".

I don\'t see the marker as well, but it seems to be no problem, because I can still select all NPC\'s and PC\'s.

About the fear part in front of your messages/commands. Try to uncheck (or toggle on and off) the bad word filters in game.
Options -> Interface -> Chat -> Filter incoming bad words
Options -> Interface -> Chat -> Filter outgoing bad words

I don\'t know why it is/might be connected, but it worked in my case

Wow- that actually worked. Thanks! It probably never would have occurred to me to look at the chat filter.

I suddenly notice lots of previous threads on this topic that I swear weren\'t there when I started this one. (And there\'s still no smiley for \"blush!\" )

Same here. Although I noticed that when I ran PS in windowed mode (1024x768) the marker showed up correctly but since I changed to 800x600 fullscreen the markers don\'t show 95% of the time. Except when in combat, where the marker appears correctly all the time.

Could it be that fullscreen/windowed is the problem? I\'ll tray a few combinations and get back to you.

Oh, btw, I\'m using an ATI Radeon 9600 XT, but aside from the occasional slideshow and the missing markers there seems to be no other graphics problem.

there marker is still there most of the time, if you try moving the view around with page up and down.
<Rux> i wish i could say that narrows it down, but the internet is one freaky place

No, didn\'t work for me...

Although with fullscreen and 1024x768 I see the markers most of the time...
