Your Christmas present, there isn't really a way I have found to cut off the hair satisfactorily.

I wouldn't want to bother you by making lots of requests, and i'd love to learn.

How time consuming is it?

By pixel editing then applying an internal bevel to create the illusion of 3d.

At most an hour, usually less.

Paint Shop Pro 8.

Paint Shop Pro is my favourite bitmap editor as well.

It just got a bit too bloated when JASC was taken by Corel. I guess Version 8 or 9 would be the optimal version.
