Your missing the point, they start the bid at an outrageous, high price, and make it keep going up, people hear about this big price, and start their bids on the same item at the price it was just sold at, and it just keeps increasing...

thats runescape not PS......and i dont think there are that many boneheads out there in PS with super rare items because first of all there are very few rare items in PS if any at all,and second i dont think that they could stockpile rares like ppl do in runescape. with all the hacks, and scams ppl use and do.

If someone finds someone who\'s willing to pay a really high price for a worthless item, good for them.  Anything useful should be available through crafting, in which case production has the potential to shift in response to demand.

Edit:  I should add that planeshift presently has the opposite problem.  Though fire, frosty, and dark weapons should be ultra rare and very treasured, they\'re actually thrown around like they\'re nothing.  When I can buy a 54 slash broadsword for less than a basic longsword, something is very wrong.

I think that this is because the Frosty, Fire and Dark weapons are less rare than some others. Etc. 400 Frosty ShortSword in the world. 10 some gem encrusted ShortSword in the world.

It\'s like saying that things are expensive not because they are useful but because they are rarer than others and have less quantity in the world.

I think that smithing should be implemented faster but I\'ve got one question for that. How would you smith a frosty dagger? Do you need some sort of a weird \"Frost ore\" or do  you need to cast a spell on it to make it have a \"Frosty\" ability?

Frost Glyph ---> Frosty Weapon
Fire Glyph ----> Fire Weapon
Weakness Glyph ----> Dark Weapon

Maybe.

If several stores are running low on a particular item to sell and then the owners put the price up, there is then a demand for that product. Merchants from other areas seeking to exploit this will send caravans with these goods on them to the city, generating quests to defend the caravans, some might pass through PvP areas allowing both NPC and PC bandits to attack while others will not, to ensure that some of the caravans get to the town.
Whenever a caravan gets to the town, prices will go down due to increased supply, shopkeepers might try to exploit this by funding bandits to attack the caravans, and hiring PCs to attack them, while not preventing a player from making a caravan and making some cash.
Shops such as Harquenist?s smithy will produce goods on their own if some PC or NPC sells them the raw materials.
Under construction
