Clayezekiel's Journal (Of Death and Resurrection)
« on: November 30, 2005, 03:26:19 am »
Seven days it has been, since the day I unfortunately fell down the stairs and died.

I remember waking up from darkness into a very eerie looking reality filled with gloomy red light. I had heard stories of \"the Death Realm\" and legends of people surviving from death. By then I hadn\'t yet realized I had died, but soon I found out that this surely was no dream. I wandered the seemingly endless halls and corridors, always sensing the death around me. From time to time I saw other poor souls like me, trying to find their way out of this dark and sullen place. I didn\'t even know what should I been searching for. Some kind of light, or a portal? Or should I been shouting the name of Laanx, or Talad perhaps? I am not a religious man, but at desperate times, higher forces always come in great need, so I sent a prayer in Talad\'s name. I knelt down on the cursed ground, waiting for an answer. There was no response, and no wonder, this is a gods\' forsaken land.

I saw death everywhere I went, and no sign of light or a portal could be seen. The other lost souls were desperate from lingering here for days. Or weeks? Or even years? The time was very thin, no way to measure it and I had no idea how fast the time ran on the other side. Every step I took in the cathedrals of the dead felt like a small eternity and every thought made my steps feel a little heavier. Will I ever see my family or my friends again? And if do, will they remember me anymore by then, or even exist?

The others were of no use in guidance, as I was also useless to them. I saw people of all races, mostly krans for some reason, or then it was the same kran every time. All of them were more desperate than the other, and some had given up hope of getting resurrected and made this world their home. The rest just were shouting for help and gods\' mercy. A few were speaking in a totally undescribable language, probably caused by the madness of this place. I tried to follow some of them, but whether I lost the trace, or they were just as lost as I was. Every single path and turn seemed to bring me back to where I came from. I tried to dive in the endless darkness deep in the abyss, but that turned out to be just a waste of time. One\'ll get killed from such an act, but where will you end up if you\'re already dead? Back here.

I had become very much sick of the lanterns, the bones and the skulls. Eventually I saw the symptoms of losing mental health in myself. Running back and forth without direction, crashing into the walls, trying to tear the whole place up, and once I even spoke like an arcane spirit had taken over my body. It sounded like a some kind of ancient language as I recall myself uttering the words \"Open sesame\". Nothing happened to the wall, which stood in front of me, and even I was so exhausted, I continued on wandering around. In anger and frustration I ran blind in the hallways. Suddenly something caught my leg, I stumbled over, lost my vision for a while, and when I could see again, I realized that I had found a new way. My hopes were up that this was they way out. I picked up the speed and kept running in a fine pace. I was almost laughing in excitement and relief as I finally stood in front of a portal of some kind. I was sure that this was it. No more wandering in the dark. No more sickening feeling of death. Without hesitation I entered the portal and left the Death Realm for good.

At least untill I happen upon another set of stairs...

you\'re story is great but is quite vague. you could add more detail by putting in where the staires were where you fell down and died and what did the lanterns look like in the Death Realm also description of the bones and skulls

Hmm I think you\'re right, I should\'ve concentrated more on the little details and such. I\'ll keep that one in mind (if I can encourage myself doing another story, that is).

I thought I could write another part of the Journal, probably considering the events which led me to my death. The first part was based on a true story almost on all aspects. I think the describing of things will be easier as I have to imagine what happened.

I\'d be happy to receive some more hints and tips for my possible future stories if possible :)
