Well, there are indeed zones that are meant to be dark, and others that simply have an issue with being lighted correctly since the last update.
To try to solve this last case, edit the shortcut that launches the game, that is go to start-all programs-planeshift-planeshift select it and right click on it->Properties.
Search for (...) psclient.exe\" and change it for psclient.exe\" -fullbright
Please notice the blank space between \" and -
If that doesn\'t solve the issue:
Mostly all graphic cards drivers allow you to tweak a setting called \"Gamma\".
Right click on your desktop, select properties, configuration, advanced options and there navigate to the tab of your card, and search for the gamma setting, raise it a bit. There are some manufacturers that allow to save \"profiles\" so you\'d be able to load them using a shortcut on the taskbar, rightclicking on it and selecting it, (for instance called) planeshift, before launching the game; of course, when you exit the game you can restore the settings back to normal.
Are there any MoonSeekers left?

The \"chess board\" texture is used when it can\'t load the correct texture.  Either the texture file is missing, or it\'s having an error.  Run the updater, and update your graphics drivers.  If that doesn\'t fix it, please reply here with your system specs.

I think he\'s referring to the forest chess board, I think he\'s seeing it so dark inside that thinks it\'s a cave.

Ok, yeah... the forest is just missing a texture at the moment, if that\'s where you\'re seeing it.  (but, there\'s no cave near the forest...  ?( )

Actually-- I\'m a noob, but I\'ve kept an interest for Planeshift for years. I died one and went to the Death Realm (great concept!). I really couldn\'t find my way, because most of all I saw was completely black! I can\'t believe that this was intended, because I was basically blind. I fell down stairs and everything. Now I can\'t find my way out of the Death Realm and into the realm of the living.  :D

Maybe I need to try harder, before I start whining, but I just thought it was weird. There have also been some other bugs, but I\'ll post them in the appropriate forums.

I\'m using Linux Ubuntu Hoary release with Nvidia
Since update 0.3.0.12 have been made, all is dark  outside the towns.
The game can only be played with :

psclient -fullbright

Is someone working on this problem ?
In 0.3.0.11 it was working !

You need to relight your maps. There is an option in the setup where you can relight individual maps, but it seems to crash on the Ojaroad map. I use the walktest  program from CrystalSpace to relight maps.

Another option would be starting psclient with the -relight option. Go to the region that you want to relight, then exit the game and start again with the -relight option. Once done, exit and load again. Or if you have a lot of time, turn on the \"Load all maps\" option in the setup, start psclient with the -relight option and find something else to do for next couple of hours (or days :) ).
