something unexpected happened

when loading the world an error comes up that says \"Something unexpected happened i Planeshift: Crystal Blue Details:EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION at 7C00724A.                                                                                                                                                                   this happens every time, what can i do?

Try disabling sound, and perhaps have a recovery update (and often changing your active mirror in updaterconfig.xml from 1 to 3 helps).

Hello i am a newby and i am having the same problem where a warning jump to the screen saying :



   Something Unexpected happened in PlaneShift: Cristal Blue
   Details: EXCEPTION_ACCES_VIOLATION at 5F18A3E7



And previously i had more of those with diffetent numbers.

I already diactivated the sound and its still happening, and i have done like 3 or 4 updates in both ways.

Also i haven?t been able to change the updater mirror becacuse i do not know how to edit a XML file in winXP.

Concerning editing updaterconfig.xml:

Locate the file in your main PlaneShift directory (usually C:\\Program Files\\PlaneShift Crystal Blue), right-click on the file and choose \"Open With,\" then \"Notepad.\" If Notepad isn\'t listed, click on \"Choose Program\" on the bottom and try to find it within the list. It should definitely be available, but in case it isn\'t, hit \"Browse\" from there and Notepad will be in C:\\WINDOWS.

From there, locate this bit of code:

       
       
       
       
       
       
   

And switch the active mirror ID from the default 1 to 3, which seems to have been working better than most. Save the modified file, and run the updater once more (recover mode, preferrably.)

I am still in problems and i haven?t been able to enter the game. I am kind of sorry to boder this much but the seem to be pretty interesting, fun and well contructed, so is kind of disapointing not been able to played.

I have changed the mirror to 3 as said the piace of code :

I turn off the sound in the PlaneShift setup and i also try to change the skin to the stone motive (i say try because it doesn?t change).

As a faqs always that it is runnig the updater its says it?s been unable to deleted temporary repository ZIP, i don?t know if this affects in anything.

So can you please help me ??

Its also funny (in a not very pleasent way) that i downloaded the gamebefore my friends and then i told them abuot it, and right now the must be playing ......................................  =(

It says the problem has to do with the Psclient ..... if it helps

OK, you can try this, perhaps you\'ve a corrupted psclient.exe version.
Go to your planeshift directory and move the psclient.exe you\'ll find there to another (safe) location, let\'s say the desktop. When done, delete psclient.exe from planeshift folder (don\'t worry, if anything goes wrong you still have a copy of it on the desktop, right?)
Try then launching the updater again, it should find the file missing and will begin to download a new one, hopefully that one won\'t be corrupted and you\'ll be able to play.
Also, check if there\'s some problems with your computer not meeting the minimum requirements:
Minimum Requirements:

    * Windows 98, ME, 2000 or XP, Mac OS X 10.2.6, Linux, FreeBSD or Solaris
    * GeForce 2 or higher 3D graphics card
    * 1 Ghz CPU
    * 512 MB RAM
    * 1 GB free disk space

Actuallly I don?t think thats the problem unless some part of my computer is in creating a conflict.

I say this because I have a :
* Windows XP SP2
* AMD Athlon 64 of 3200+
* NVIDIA GeForce 5500 for video
* 1 Gb in RAM DDR
* 10 Gb of free space in hard drive
* 300Kb Broadband Internet conecction

So what do you think its a software problem ??

Have you attempted Nilrem\'s advice about moving psclient.exe and downloading another?

Actually i did once, and even a second time i did the same thing to the repos zip file, that always that is updating it says is unable to erase.

But its still not working i already unistall the game and when i was goit to install it it said that it couln?t so I download the game again. But is still happening.

So i am trying to download the torrent file that i suppose is complete and uncorrupted that the tranfer data never goes more than 2 Kb when its not 0 Kb. Any suggestion with this problem either So its the second day i left the computer on to download the torrnet and is in the 15%.

I just wanted to let you know that after the last pach I was able to enter te game and upload my character, but now all that I see is my character, the rest is black.........

So now I suppouse that I should refer to the in game problems forum.
