Why does the updater look like this? It happened
after I took the second update from the thread about updating the updater. Also the cursor disappears when over the window.

Did you install everything from the installer in this forum without using the installer on the site first? I got the same issue and resolved by using the installer linked here over an installation of that in the site (and applying the patch last).

I followed the instructions here in the Linux related forum for installer updates. Well, I can try to reinstall everything again. At least it is all already downloaded.

Once again, the same picture...

Let me guess - you have a GeForce 2 or 4?

Edit the file data/config/r3dopengl.cfg and add these lines:

Code: [Select]
Video.OpenGL.UseExtension.GL_ARB_texture_rectangle = false
Video.OpenGL.UseExtension.GL_NV_texture_rectangle = false

There is another thread which describes your problem already in the topic title:

Text continously writes over itself, pointer is incorrect
