gentoo install guide updater prob
« on: January 01, 2006, 06:45:00 am »
I installed using the gentoo install guide and everything\'s fine until I get down to the very bottom to run the updater.

/usr/games/planeshift $ ./updater -auto
SCF_ERROR: metadata retrieval error for /usr/games/planeshift/pssound.so: Warning: /usr/games/planeshift/pssound.so has embedded data and .csplugin file, using embedded.
CRITICAL ERROR: XML Parsing error in file \'/this/updaterconfig.xml\': Error reading Element value..

What is the Element value??  I looked in the xml and there\'s no reference to Element anywhere, or is the problem with something else that gets pass to \"Element\" somewhere else.   Either way I\'d love to play and hope somebody can point me in the right dir.   Thanks in advance.

\"Element\" is a common name for items in the xml file. Check your updaterconfig.xml file for any mistakes, like missing closing tags etc. Like shall be closed with , other \"elements\" have a closing \"/\", like .  Also make sure that all the quotation marks are closed ( \"1\" and not \"1 ).

Cool thanks for the response   I copy and pasted the mirror line from the install guide and must have done something wrong.  I did it again and now it\'s working.   Updating now :D
