Planeshift - Reviewed (90%)
« on: February 08, 2006, 03:30:31 pm »
Heya, players of Planeshift!

I\'m an adminstrator from another community - which is based around online RPG\'s. We have a review section, and recently a member of our community (Dager) - reviewed Planeshift. The review is located here. Feel free to take a peek at the review, and comment on it.

Also, whenever a game is reviewed by a member of our community, infomration is placed on our Wiki, which contains help and tips on games. The page on the wiki on Planeshift is listed  here - This page is on a wiki, so feel free to add anything useful that we haven\'t thought of to it.

Thanks.

(Sorry, mods, I wasn\'t sure whether this belonged in this forum, or the The Hydlaa Plaza. I figure because it specifically relates to Planeshift it belongs here. Sorry for any annoyances this newbie causes you)

Cool glad to see planeshift getting such a good score for a pre alpha game.

Nice review.. although there were a few bits that made me laugh..

\"the server never really goes down\"

and

\"Even to the annoying newbie who thinks he knows everything, the forum posters are polite and thurough in their explainations\"

and

\"This isn\'t like Star-Wars-Galaxies where the developers only come on to yell at you and tell you to stop whining\"

For that last one, ok, they don\'t yell... but you do hear a lot of \"stop whining\".

There were times that the server was really very stable so that\'s a bit of hit or miss.  But server stability is a pretty high issue for us at all times.  For example, when it does crash it sends out an email to about a dozen different people with the last crash.

Server stability is a top priority but none of us are able to work on PS full-time even if we wanted to. So I don\'t think anyone can expect 24/7 round-the-clock managing of the server and creating & implementing new patches to improve stability. Rest assured, when the server crashes quite a few developers will know exactly when and how it happens. Whether any of them have the time to examine the logs or create a fix is a different matter.

I thought the review really sucked, to be honest, lol.

For example, how can you take him seriously when he posts this?

\"I wouldn\'t know too much about the sound, as I have a nasty habit of playing music on my headphones while I play any RPG. Nothing beats saving a princess while listening to some MF DOOM in the background.. really sets you in the RPG mood. Regardless, if the visuals are any indicator of the game\'s standard for its media presentation, the sound should blow your mind.\"

He didn\'t even really test the sound but assumed that it would \"blow your mind\".

In all honesty, the reviewer sounds like he\'s puffing a big one and is just too happy about everything.

Although he also said, \"wonky\" a lot. :D
