Hyuken's note.
« on: February 25, 2006, 05:49:51 am »
After a visit to the tavern for the usual friendly company, you find the place unusually quiet. Walking to the bar, you spot a note under a mug and go to read. You see that it is written in a large-scripted, childish hand.

Sorries folks an boss, but im?s missin my Pa and Matra, an the litl sisser. I goes to vizit them for a few weeks. I be back though so no worry for me and the bar is clean. Thank you fors treatin me like famly for the time I here.

Satayne finds the note as he goes to pour himself a drink. \"It seems we can never keep the good ones around for long\"

Zorbels looks at Satayne and then reads the note he hands to her. \"I agree and I liked him, he was good at tending the bar and it is so clean!\" she sighs and sips her milk. \"Well hopefully he will come back.\"
I've been outside, it's overrated and the graphics suck!

A young Diaboli rushes into Kada\'el\'s Tavern dressed in the standard of the Currier?s Guild. He stops and nods to any in the room before pulling out a sealed parchment. He strikes a self important pose -as is also standard for one of his guild- and begins speaking grandly in a voice that hovers squeakingly between boy and manhood.

\"Hear ye! I bring upon you a message of great import!\" he states.

No one really pays him much mind, as -all- couriers open with that standard announcement, whether the message be of actual great import, or the wife reminding the husband to pick up a fresh roast for sup. It is well known that the Couriers think that -any- message they carry is the most important of news, simply given the fact that they, themselves carry it.

The boy continues. \"I seek one....um...\" he stops to look at the script, his pride deflating a tiny bit. \"...ah...well....I seek \'The Boss, an any good folks who misses me...\" He stops again an looks up with a raised eyebrow.

Seeing a few heads swivel his way, he nods to himself and   places the parchment on the bar with grand motions and backs away as if placing a fragile statue of immense value. He then turns on his heal and strides out the door, already practicing his speech for his next delivery.

Any who would read the note would see this:

-------------
Boss an fokes! Iam havfting the best tim. Well afer the villagers stopped chasing me I am having the best time. I feard I fell too slepp on the Lift again an gots out on the rong level again. I still not shur what level I on, but I think it is the Fourth. There are pretty trees here for the clime. The villagers say I should not eat no more of the fruit out of the trees. The ocktark would be mad. They is his trees and look like giant beests! You nevar see nothing so wonderas. He has armys of garden mans and ladies. They cut the trees to look like beasts and they grow fruit! But you can?t eat it. The garden folks get awful mad and call the villagers. But it all good now. Don?t woory bout me. They like me after I start talking. Now I have more friends. Sorry but all this writing give me a eye pain in the head. I write later if I find where home is.

By fokes and boss. I see you soon maybe.

Shooree strolls into the tavern lazily, finalizing the meticulous pruning of his fur on the go. He casually nods to the patrons, and keeps the course steady towards the bar.  As he approaches it, his attention gets drawn away from the depths of introspective self-pitying rift his mind had become, onto an unsuspecting piece of parchment he sees on the floor.

\"What is this... obviously someone...hm..\"

He continues his instinct-guided journey towards the bar, frowning at the condition that the parchment was in: stepped on, stained with mead and grime... and the grammar. oh the grammar!

\"A stout one, lad...\" Says he, as he sits himself, still doing his best to decypher the mess adorning the parchment. After a minute, he realizes that the proverbial *tup* that leads to the conditional reflex of his right hand picking up the mug off the counter never happened. Shooree lifts his head off the parchment and finds but thin air staring back.

\"Hhh-yukkkk-en... Hyuken. So that was your name, eh? My runaway barman.. Tsk... A barfly yelps, and hopes of grandior disperse... \"

Shooree sighs and closes his eyes. He slaps the parchment several times off the counter and makes a cynical expression as the now tubed material tonks in tune with his exhaling...
\"... the fourth level... interesting... Bah.\" His eyes open as he gazes across the common room \"Not much difference in where he went... As long as there\'s a hand behind the bar. Which is not the case.\"

He leaves the message to fend for itself again. Leaning on the bar, Shooree starts picking at a stray thread on his robe\'s sleeve, hoping that someone will have mercy and pour him a drink. Or two.

The Taver door is kicked open, revealing a dirty looking young enki man. His head is bandaged, and his arm in a sling. But he is grinning from ear to ear.

\"Folks! Boss! I\'am BACK!\"
