That will come.

For now, Pond Hill sounds good to me. Make a good story around it, and maybe it will be named after you. Kada-El's Tavern, anyone?

No, it can not be an actual volcano, active, dormant, or extinct. Volcanos require HUGE amounts of heat and pressure from below.
I absolutely agree.  I have thought of this myself.
[what i was always interested in is how different landscape elements formed.
As some others have mentioned, I like to think of this formation as more of crater than a volcano.  Depending on just how high up the 'ceiling' is, perhaps a chunk of rock broke off, fell, and impacted the 'ground' (similar to a meteorite impact) to create a crater.  To me anyway, it makes much more sense than a volcano.

As far as a name goes, I usually just call it 'the crater', but 'Crater Mountain' seems fine too.  'Official' names for some other landmarks would be nice as well.  For example:  the stone face (AKA. screaming rock, AKA. the stone mouth, AKA rock face, etc., etc.).

'crater' and 'mountain' seem a little extreme for a hill with a pond on it. ;)

Under the Moon we're talking about a different hill... this hill is much closer to Ojaveda, and also much, much taller.

also... as for the name, I was thinking of names more native to Ojaveda... as it is almost right next to Akkaio.  Hah and I like "Screaming rock" as a name for the rock face! Also the cliffs looking down on Hydlaa could do with a name couldn't they?...
the Teakettle...

Concerning crater mountain it could be volcanic but it is perhaps more likely a result of the land subsiding around the raised portion. Indeed all the open areas could have resulted from subsidence.

Yes.  The one I was thinking of does not have a pond in it, just some nasty beasties.   ;D
