v. 0.3.012 installer refuses to be deleted
« on: March 02, 2006, 02:28:42 am »
I am running Windows XP.
Recently I downloaded the v .012 installer(NOT using bittorrent) and tried to install it. It wouldn\'t install (all it did was flash a Command Prompt-type window) and now it can\'t be deleted. the error message is cannot delete: it is being used by another person or program.
I am now downloading v 0.3.013(using bittorrent), but I would still like to find out what went wrong and how to delete the old installer.

Reboot.  Windows is dumb about these things.  If it\'s still being an ass, delete it from safe mode.  (though, you probably won\'t need to)

Have you tried Click-and-Drag into Recycle Bin?

Ok, thanks. It\'s gone now. although I\'ve tried both rebooting and putting it into the recycling bin first before(just not together, I think).

if you have a file that cant be deleted, then just open the task manager and kill the process \"explorer. Then you can open \"cmd\" from the task manager,(or from \"start\" \"execute\" or something like that, but before you kill explorer:) ) and browse to the directory with the file and delete it with del \"filename\".
