Some advice on weapons performance
« on: March 17, 2006, 02:46:54 pm »
I would like to appologise if my question may repeat the topic of other threads but I sincerely could not find an answer by reading past threads

Currently I am equiped with a claymore and a broad sword and I am huppy with how much damage i do for now, but since the two weapons have different speeds I dont know if the overall speed is a mean of the two or not. How does it work? Are both weapons used during the attack causind a mean damage with a mean speed or is there only one weapon preselected? is the holdling hand (left/right) important for each weapon?

Thank you very much in advance! I will really appreciate any comments

hand is not important... yet

the speed is weapon dependant. each one hits at it\'s own rate. if you watch you\'ll see that yu\'re getting two hits at different rates.
may laanx frighten the shadow from my path.
hardly because the shadow built the lexx.
the shadow will frighten laanx from my path.

in short, the speed of the weapon is how long inbetween each attempt to hit.  speed of 3 means 3 time units must pass before your character takes another swing with that weapon.

your hands do not depend on each other.  having a weapon with speed of 1.5 in one hand will attempt to hit twice as often as the speed 3 weapon in the other hand.  that what your asking?

edit, beaten to the punch yet again. curse my only being able to type with one hand.

so I use both weapons at the same time each with its own speed and damage, is this what you are saying?

Both weapons suck.

Claymore:  Speed 5.00, Slash 3.5 (or something, it doesn\'t matter)

Broadsword:  Speed 3.00, Slash 2.70

So over time, you\'re putting out less than 1 slash per 1 unit of time.  Speed divided by Slash is less than 1.

Compare that to short sword:

Speed:  2.0, Slash 2.0

Speed over Slash is 1.  Short sword is better than both claymore and Broadsword.

There is only one exception to this!  If you can kill your enemy in a single hit using the Broadsword, but it would take two hits with the shortsword, then the Broadsword might be considered better!

If you\'re using two broadswords or two short swords, then the same is true if it would take two hits of the broadsword, but three of the shortsword.  It averages out in the end though.

Falchions, Sabres, Longswords, and Daggers have ratios which are greater than one.  That means that their Slash is greater than their Speed.

Daggers however are much faster.  The drawback of daggers is that they deal much less damage.

I found when i had 2 swords with the same speed but differing strength equipped that placing the stronger of the  two in my left hand meant it always hit 1st.Maybe i am imagining things though.

if you have two weapons withthesame speed, what ever weapon is in the left hand hits first regardless of the slash on it.  so you weren\'t imagining.

As in shield hand?  Is this different for different races?

nope left hand always goes before the right hand, or at least that happens with enkis and umm, whatever the humans (don\'t remember it off the top of my head, Im really bad with remembering names) are called.  it may just be that they hit at the same time, but it shows up in the system messages as the left hand going first.  just get two weapons with the same slash and try it your self some time.
