Actually, you are still downloading quite a bit while you have your fun within RS, you just don\'t see it. That loading at the begining? Yep, you downloading the client. Every time you connect to the servers, you re-download the thing. Plus everytime you switch to a new sector, download all that. The difference is, while what ever you download through RS goes away after you close your browser bar, the PS client is actually its own progmra that must be installed on your local machine. Hence, it stays. A one time download, not over and over again.
This is due to many reasons. Primarly the way the two games were written, and the difference in content between the two games. RS is java based ( no not coffee), PS is C+ based ( I think, couls be another variation of C). Completly different technologies. As far as content, the game engine alone for PS is a hefty program that take up a bunch of space. It is quite illogical to have a person download the PS client every time they wish to play. Unless you don\'t mind waiting around from anywher from 15 minutes to 4 hours or more everytime you want to start the game becuase you have to redownload everything needed to run.
Also, PS is more like the traditional commercial games. You know EQ, EQ2, Wow, City of Heroes/Villians,etc. There is just too much content to be feasible to have someone redownload that everytime they wish to play. The bandwidth requierd alone makes my brain hurt to think about.
So as you can see. Its just not possible to do wht you ask with PS. I don\'t want any flameys going off about RS vs PS either. I answered the question, as far as I see, this discussion is over and can be locked. Not quite sure why this was even posted here to begin with. Not much of a place to even ask that really. Off topic a bit.
