Sound in 3.014?

Music seems to work fine, other sound effects are often turned into ugly, ugly bursts of static.

how do i enable sound? the pssetup app doesn\'t seem to affect anything, so i uncommented the \";SndSys.Driver = crystalspace.sndsys.software.driver.coreaudio\" line in psclient.cfg and indeed it now shows info about the audio stream at startup (unlike .013), plus it\'s generally slower and uses more memory, but it\'s still very silent.
Do i need something else?
Also, is the option of using Jack as a sound driver supposed to work? I have Jack OSX installed but unless i am doing something wrong it\'s not working (i.e. nothing mentioned at startup sound-wise).

Earthling have you tried enabling it from the in-game options window after editing the cfg file? I had to do that to solve my problem 

P.S. i distinctly remember having re-edited my previous post to add this...

The CAF files don't seem to work for me.
