Siteri needs answers!
« on: July 08, 2007, 06:10:51 am »
"I just... can't take this!" Siteri shouted as she slammed another book onto the shelf at the library.

"Quiet!" Jayose snapped. "This is a library!"

"I know that..." Siteri replied. "But you don't understand what I've been through. The man I love has some kind of... monster in his mind, taking control of him... I haven't seen him as his normal self in... what seems like ages! Have you ever heard of anything like this? Any books about how I could save him?"

"Well, certainly there have been many cases of spirits possessing people..." Jayose said.

"But this is different. It's not a spirit, it's part of him. He's been like that... well, for almost as long as I've known him, but it hasn't been this serious until now..." Siteri said, tears rolling down.

"Ah, two selves... The phenomenon has been heard of, but there hasn't been much research," Jayose mused.

"There's one more thing..." Siteri said, moving closer to Jayose. "His body has changed. He used to be an Enkidukai, but then, he died, and now he looks like... well, this is the closest I've seen..." She raised her guild pendant for Jayose to see: a silvery-colored image of a crescent moon alongside a creature that looked almost like an Enkidukai, but with a long snout, its head raised as if howling, a red gem in its eye.

"That's impossible," Jayose raged, looking at Siteri suspiciously. "Creatures such as this are nothing but myths. I have nothing more to say to you! You'll find nothing about your delusions here!"

"But it's-" Siteri began to object.

"Enough, you blithering mud-dobber!" Jayose snapped.

With a dejected bow of her head, Siteri left the library. Lori soon came running out. "I heard what you said from upstairs," she said. "And I believe you..."

"That's nice," Siteri said with a shake of her head. "But I don't suppose you could help me at all..."

"I might... What's his name? ...The man you love?" Lori said.

"Skreit," Siteri replied. "His name is Skreit Saner..."

"Ironic," Lori said under her breath. Siteri's ears twitched but she said nothing. "Anyway," Lori continued, "what does he look like?"

"Now? He looks sort of like this..." Siteri displayed her pendant again. "He's much bigger and stronger than any Enkidukai... more than anything I've ever seen! He has black fur now, a huge tail, and... his teeth and claws are incredibly sharp. He's got huge muscles too... he was already strong as an Enki, because he trained so much, but now he's even bigger. When his other side was controlling him... he nearly killed me several times, and he was so terrifying... But when he is his real self, I don't notice any of that. He's so gentle to me..."

"Oh my... tough love," Lori said. Siteri blinked. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry... I shouldn't be making jokes about this," Lori said. "As Jayose mentioned, I have heard myths of creatures such as that you describe... but never of an Enkidukai becoming one. As for his two sides, I'll see if I can get you some books on that subject... It won't be much, but... I suppose I just like love stories with happy endings."

"Do you think..." Siteri said, wiping tears away that had been forming in her eyes, "that you can research how to save Skreit?"

"I'll try everything I can, miss...?" Lori paused.

"Siteri Kidachi," Siteri replied. "And thank you very much..." She walked off, her hopes renewed.

...Kidachi? Lori thought. She shrugged, then re-entered the library to find the books for Siteri.
