The Introduction System
« on: March 02, 2008, 09:28:43 pm »
Good idea, but I have a suggestion. Instead of "Someone" how about "A [gender] [race]"

For example:

Someone winks at you.

Sure, thats fine I guess, but doesn't this next one sound better?

A female dermorian winks at you.

Just some food for thought of course. Keep up the good work devs.

I haven't actually seen this in-game yet (alas, Steve Jobs) but I can already imagine a lot of pain and confusion from the use of "Someone", even though I love the general idea of an introduction system.   Definitely in favor of Shami's suggestion.

I'd say this should go under the wish list area as its not really a complaint about the feature, more or less a request for a modification.

Anyways, I think its an idea worth considering.

I disagree. The wishlist is things you'd like to see in the final game, this is something I want now. If the lack of a complaint is a problem, thats fine, I'll complain in this reply: The "Someone" thing is annoying.

The wishlist is for changes to current features as well.

yes, that would make it a lot easier to identify "Someone" :)
I have also another idea to improve the introduction system: you could be able to introduce somebody else. That would be, for example, when you tell Somebody to look for XY. If Somebody doesn't know XY, that is quite hard for him, because the name doesn't show up. In RL, you could give Somebody a description of XY, but ingame all the models look the same. So perhaps you could target Somebody and then /introduce XY or something like that...I hope you get what I mean  X-/

Well you could always write up a letter of introduction, give it to someone who then asks around for the person and then gives it to whoever /introduces themselves correctly.
