Dark Ages (Nexon Inc) - Pros: Really fun/cute game, Large community, Free to download and only US$8 per month to play.  The makers had some really neat concepts for roleplaying.  One day I was wandering through my char\'s home city and I got called to JURY DUTY.  That\'s right.  The GM\'s masked my character name, stuck me in a box on a bench with 7 other players, and we ended up convicting some poor sap of a game violation.  (I believe he got a 24 hour ban from the city, and the accuser was his college roomate, who admitted after the fact that he was innocent and set him up as a prank).  The prosecution, the accuser (another player), and the accused used screenshots, logs and testimony from other players to present a great case.  It was fun, especially since the entire court session was also judged on RP.  If you slipped OOC the chances of the Jury and Judge ruling in favor of your oppenent increased greatly.

Goldir, that one comparision there just gave me a brilliant idea what can be incorporated into PS for crime and punishment along with the other ideas i have which i pretty much came up with during the time when i played WoW as i felt there was no justice and the guild were useless when i used to get slaughtered by a high lvl player. Your a genious man, i got to add that to my idea. That also adds to roleplaying element if the incorporated something like that in PS and also creates justice but also injustice as there is in the real world.

I will tell you why Planeshift is better. After levelling to max level on so many different games, I'm tired of the whole fight-level thing. I'm way too experienced to play a commercial game without being accused of cheating. You think I'm lying? My team was banned from WoW not becuase we cheat but because their GMs don't understand the concept of skilled players... We don't have those problems on Planeshift because nobody cares if we one-drop a rat.

But enough bragging and whining about WoW.  I'm happy to have someplace where my friends and I can meet online and chat, and if there is something we don't like about the game there is a chance, maybe a small one, we could learn to become developers and fix it.

My sister is a very good artist and she is learning Autodesk.  I wrote a rock tunneling game in BASIC and everybody loved it.  I am a beginning C programmer and I've had some success following the nehe OpenGL tutorials and making my own scenes from USGS elevation data.  I went on to write a couple of C++ plugins for Moray to import and export .vrml, .dxf and .pov formats, create geodesic and eliptical domes of N verticies, random domes and tesselation. I have created a couple VRML avatars from scans of my face and clothing, using Spazz3d and made emote animations for them and had them responding to events within HANIM specification...  I realize that these aren't serious developer qualifications, but I like to play around with things and keep the midnight oil burning. My priorities are all messed up. I live in a box and drive a bicycle so I can afford the best top-of-the-line computers and fastest broadband they offer. I'm always researching and downloading the latest free development tools.  Someday I will make another game.

We just have bad luck, that's all. There is a GM who is also a guild leader on hoarde side. We keep running into his friends... and killing them...  Anyways, if he's so mad at us that he would go through the trouble of banning us, then I'd say we've pretty much accomplished everything we wanted with WoW and it's time to move on.

It's true you can't really compare the two. One of them costs too much... :whistling:

I never paid once for WoW so that issue never really bothered me. Even so I prefer PS purely for the lack of morons playing it in comparison.
