Nope, as long as there is a house and a bank etc for what you choose to keep safe, if you die, the stuff you're carrying should be dropped, No arguments there, anything else is ridiculous.
The problem is, planeshift isn't at the stage where there's a house, or a bank, or anything except an inventory, and it won't be for a long time... I would really prefer that we wait until it is before adding any more loss on death than a little time to leave DR. I certainly don't want every single thing I own to be lying on the ground for all to take because I accidentally slipped and fell from a roof, or the world itself.
I also like the idea of a game system allowing you to kill anyone you wish, whether it's a merchant NPC or an ordinary player, or the thief who just stole all your coin. I just think that coldblooded murder, the killing of one who has committed no crime and is not in an enemy guild, should carry a very, very high price, as it does in the real world. I personally don't see the fun in murdering other characters, and neither does the character I play, but that does't mean I don't think that others shouldn't be capable of doing it.. As long as they're punished as severely as they would be in this world. After all, they just murdered an innocent person. The killing of a theif, or a murderer, however, should hold no punishment, as a criminal had just been killed.
it feels like you are so busy arguing with me and explaining to me that I'm so absolutely wrong and that planeshift is not made for pvp that you don't even try to figure out a good and very basic pvp implementation, which would guarantee long term fun.
I actually have plenty ideas on how PVP could work and work well. I just don't think this is a thread for me to go sharing all my thoughts on how the game should work :p
And I believe the game is coded in c++, but I can't say, not a dev
