no change and updater wont work

i have uninstalled the old version and downloaded the new one all installed run the updater and could not get the mirrors to download on,so tried playing the game and there was no change the display is still the same,ie nothing like the screenshots on the website.

I'm not sure what you're looking at, exactly, but those screenshots are all from the game If you mean the GUI, you can change it via the setup utility. There are a couple of screenshots that have female Dermorian models, and those existed only in MB - this is the only major difference that I can see. Perhaps you would like to explain some more?

all the control panels have changed i.e quest,options,buddys and so on the buttons have been changed if you get what i mean?.

That's the GUI - you have three options: the default one in the screenshots, Elves (default in-game right now), and Stone. You can pick either one of these by running the PlaneShift setup utility, and clicking on "Skins."
