[Event] Bastel's Gambling House
« on: June 30, 2007, 07:41:26 pm »
A middle aged merchant bumps into two dwarfs outside the tavern:

- Oh! you scared me there, brother.- Bastel says, making a bow right after recognizing one of the dwarfs.

- Oh sorry brother!- Cuhar says.

- How are you today?- the merchant asks.

Pirill coughs "I don't think we've met yet...", he mutters.

- Fine, thanks brother... ah sorry, this is my guild brother and good friend Pirill.- Cuhar adds, turning to his friend.

Bastel smiles "Me name's Bastel Daen, entrepreneur. At your service"

- Pleased to meet you Bastel, Cuhar speaks highly of you...he says you have great plans for us dwarfs

- Come brother, let's have an ale- Cuhar suggests.

- Oh, ale, that's right!- Bastel says, looking into his pack- Have a taste, me friends- he says, pulling out an unmarked bottle.

- Thank you but I still have a bit myself- says Pirill.

- Oh, but you've never tasted anything like this. Thanks to me friend here, I could get all I needed. This is Golden Hammer.

Pirill takes a sip of the ale with caution that turns into surprise.

- Mmm...this is very good!

Bastel looks around and then whispers: "Interested in some more work, me friends?"

- Of course brother, it's always good to make business with you- Cuhar replies.

Bastel smiles: "Then follow me, this is a job for just a few trusted ones". After saying this, he leads the dwarfs into an alley where he can go into details without prying eyes.

- Well, as you know -he starts explaining- I needed to gather ingredients to make my Golden Hammer a few weeks ago. Now that I have them and my brew is ready, I have been looking for a great location for my Gambling House. And well, I have found a great spot. So everything is starting to come together.

- That's great news brother. A dwarf tavern is what we need here.- Cuhar says.

- Aye, and it is time to start hiring now. But I can only hire people worth of my trust.

Both dwarfs nod at Bastel's words.

- I shall do what is needed to earn your trust,brother...- Pirill adds.

- I do not know this town very well since I tavel so much... So that's where I need your help and your discretion -he pauses for a few seconds- ...I need you to be my headhunters and find the best staff to work in me gambling house.

- Hmm...that's not going to be easy... - Pirill observes.

- You are to find suitable prospects to take care of the patrons: entertain them, wait on them, serve them drinks, and so on. I cannot open the gambling house until I find them. I know it can take a while, but that's not a problem. And if you find the right prospects I will hire you as the gambling house heads of staff.

- That would be a honour for us brother!- Cuhar says.

- Me and Cuhar will do our best to find good staff!- Pirill adds excited.

- Excellent! Here's what I need: two bards, two bartenders, two female dancers, four waiters or waitresses and one main entertainer. The waiters and waitresses must have experience and know how to handle a drunken crowd. The bartenders must be good adding tabs and never mess up the orders. The dancers need to be attractive and skilled. And the main entertainer must know excellent dice games and how to entertain a crowd. You are to find canditates and have them come for an interview with me. I would like to hire a varied crowd: Klyros, Ynwnn, Xacha, Enkis, anything goes.

- We shall try finding them as quick as possible- Pirill says.

- I have to go out of town for a week but I'll be back in a few days. I'll be staying at Kada-El's. I'll send word to you as soon as I get back into town. Here's a little expense money should you need to do any traveling -Bastel says, handing Cuhar a small pouch of trias- Buy yerselves some drinks once you find the candidates. I'm trusting you, friends, don't let me down.

- We will do our best to find all the staff so fast as possible- Cuhar promises- You can trust on us brother!

Bastel smiles.

- Excellent! Now I should get going. I can't wait to see who you find!

- Ok brother have a nice trip!- Cuhar adds.

- Thanks. Farewell me friends!

Bastel picks up his pack and takes a bow, walking off.

As he disappears from their sight after turning around in a corner, Pirill puts his gloves back on and turns to Cuhar:

- Well mate looks like we've got a new adventure.

Bastel arrives at the tavern and makes himself comfortable in a room. He unpacks a few things, dusting the drawers with his gloves. He grabs a piece of paper and draws what seems to be a chart of some sort:

Quote
Name of Applicant                                 Position of Interest                                 Date of Interview                                 Observations

He puts the quill down and smiles to himself. "Let's see what Chuar and Pirill come up with now".

[Interviews will take place this wednesday and friday at around 23GMT.
And then during the weekend if necessary (exact time to be confirmed). Stay tuned.]

Pirill and Cuhar review their list of staff for Bastel's gambling house:

"So we have two bards now?" -Pirill says

Cuhar nods: "Roberet and Farren".

"What about bartenders?" -Pirill asks.

"We have Frak and Cilay for that jobs..." -answers Cuhar- "And for entertainers we have three candidates: Indygo, Ebrasch and Miadon. All of them are great experts in dice games. But also very engaged people, so may be they could work in the Gambling house for turns..."

Pirill nods: "That could only benefit the establishment, as the three are excel as entertainers..."

"We have only Haraun and Quart for waiters. So we still need two waiters and two dancers" -adds Cuhar

"Dancers seem so difficult to find..." -says Pirill

* Donari Tyndale takes a seat in the tavern on an empty table and orders a drink. She takes a circle out of her pocket and starts turning it with her fingers. As she takes a look around, she notices a few people chatting, pricking her ears. Donari's face looses its grace for the fraction of a second as she realizes some dwarves are looking for staff for a gambling house. Enraged, she gets up and heads for the exit, putting the circle on the counter in front of the barkeeper.

Pirill and Cuhar explain Bastel's plans to Miadon...

(...)

Pirill says: and then he will be the final decider
Miadon says: well if he wants someone then he can find me himself
Cuhar says: he's a businessman with plenty of things to do
Miadon says: well so am I
Miadon says: I just can not see what working for him will do.
Miadon says: I will loose my gambeling houses name
Miadon says: rather than being my own boss. I am an employee.
Cuhar says: well, if you're not interested we will look for other candidates...
Miadon says: I think that is the best.
Pirill says: well Miadon it was a pleasure doing bussiness with you...and if you ever change your mind you know where to find us
Miadon says: yes
Miadon says: goodbye

Some days later, Cuhar finds Miadon again in the tavern...

Eurac drinks a little more
Cuhar says: hi Miadon
Miadon greets Cuhar
Miadon says: hello
Cuhar takes a big sip of his mug
Eurac says: The citizens have been kind to me this day, I am about to rent a room for the night, I must get some rest, I hope we meet again
Eurac finishes his ale
Cuhar says: of course brother
Eurac says: Farewell for now
Cuhar says: bye brother
Cuhar says: almost impossible to find dancers this days, Miadon..
Miadon says: i would suggest fenkis
Miadon says: lots of nice fenki dancers
Cuhar says: yes, have tried, but no success
Miadon says: have you been to ojaveda?
Cuhar says: I haven't asked in Oja yet..
Miadon says: i suggest that then
Miadon says: fenkis are fine dancers
Cuhar says: yes, that's true
Miadon says: female dwrves of the other hand
Miadon says: erm
Miadon says: just dont have the legs for dancing
Cuhar laughs
Miadon says: where do you plan to put this gambling venue then
Cuhar says: I don't know, Miadon, Bastel will decide that...
Miadon says: hope its not too near me
Cuhar says: don't think so...
Cuhar smiles
Cuhar says: to be honest I think this could be a good chance for you, to do your business in a place with lots of people...
Miadon thinks a bit
Miadon says: ok, I agree with meeting with this person of yours
Cuhar says: good to hear that Miadon...

Cuhar reviews takes an old paper from his pocket, and adds a pair of lines at the end of it:

"New candidates: Larsiua, Marsilla (dancers), Muicevo (waiters)"

"Finally we have all the staff candidates. Bastel will be happy.. Mmm, I wonder if Farren friend is finally interested in the job as dancer..."
