questions about magic
« on: May 23, 2007, 03:09:21 pm »
Hi, I have just started the path of the magic and although I have read the player guide, I can't get an answer to this:

First of all, and just in case my character is not good made: I will be a magician. Can I be atheist? I used to play dungeons and drugons, and that was possible, but here it seems that magic is much related to religion, so I don't know if that would be a contradiction.

Now the more concrete questions:

1- Buying more gliphs of the same class does improve the power of the spells?
2- How can I learn more spells. What I have seen is that after researching a gliph I become one spell and that's all. Is there a way to learn more?
3- Why am I allways becoming this message when trying to combine 2 gliphs?: your research fails causing you to break your concentration. You suffer some damage. I have tried both combine gliphs of differents schools and from the same school...

Thank you very much for your help.

1. The power of spells increases as you level your skill in the magic way (or school) of that spell.
2. Each glyph only has one spell (more if it is combined with other glyphs), so to learn more, you'll have to get your hands on more glyphs.
3. Not all glyphs combine to make spells - or, you might not be strong enough in your way to research a spell a glyph combination may have.
Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?
Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

I have to say i dont use magic... i just stand and deliver mostly... but how come it seems my healing spell constantly heals 5%... regardless of the lvl???

I've maxed my stats now... but i've yet to see a noticable difference... is that because my lvls are still to low to have a real affect on keeping me alive?

You said you trained your stats, that means that while your spell power increased your HP increased too ;)

Last time I checked, stats had no influence on the power or success rate of spells, so a character as dumb as a brick and a genious would have the same success with the azure and red ways if they had the same skills on them, not sure if it is still this way now.

Low stats-->Low HP-->Low magic skills-->5% healing per spell.
Higher stats-->Higher HP-->Better magic skills-->Still 5% healing per spell.

If you heal twice as much HP, but your health is also two times larger due to training of stats, relatively seen you will heal at the same rate.

There's the possibility though that Rhok doesn't mean all his stats, but only Intelligence for example, which only gives more mana.
Rhok, can you say which stats you maxed?

all of them are at 200 ... unless charisma goes beyond 120... but i get what you mean now... its simply a perception issue... my magic has been rising with my stats... with no perceivable change... thank you for the clarification

Is that true? I though int, char and will were ment to affect it as well.
Hide where they expect you to... Its what they least expect.
