dont run the updater and read the stickies that tell you to not do that. You need opengl support in your graphics card drivers if you dont you will have a hard time playing

thanks caarrie, i just got done reading that sticky.

If you have any tips for getting opengl on vista or if i should compile PS, then ill try that as well

EDIT: according to ati http://www2.ati.com/relnotes/catalyst_71_vista.html#192136 their 7.1 drivers have opengl support ???
EDIT2: disabling aero and putting PS in xpsp2 compatibility doesnt help.  I just saw that ati has catalyst 7.2 drivers for vista, *fingers crossed* hope ati uninstall/install is easier on vista than xp.
EDIT take 3: uninstall/reinstall PS/catalyst worked PS looks pretty now.

I'm incredibly confused by this..... so do I not run my updater until this issue has been resolved or do I need to do something with my graphics card or drivers before I run it?

Correct you DO NOT run the up-dater as this is more likely to cause problems until such a time that they release PlaneShift Version 0.3.19...

The only thing really mentioned above about graphic cards is that you need OpenGL support, most video cards these days have that...

What is OpenGL and if I don't have it then how do I get it, because when I try to log into planeshift the screen is lamost completely clabk with a few shapes on it. It most certainly does not display anywhere near properly. . .

Chances are you need to update your video card drivers. Check your card manufacturer's website for the download. If you're unsure what kind of card you have, type dxdiag into the Windows Run command and take a look at the Display tab.

(Make sure that the approximate total memory is at least 64MB on that window. If it's below that number, you do not meet the minimum requirements for the game.)

Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.
