Thanks for your reply,
I've really never seen the GM /warn red text hit the screen. A player may see it if it comes while they
are looking at the screen, they may not be for a number of reasons, doing something else yet have
not logged out. Talking to someone (on the phone, in person, answering the door etc) Going to the
restroom, getting something to eat etc. I assume the text stays on their screen until they dismiss it,
so they may miss a time limit given to them in the warning, but they would see the text.
1. Do the Server Admins have a /warn everyone ? I just see it in the System Dialog "Rebooting in 90 sec" etc
2. Lots of players must stay on line, even all day, if they're going to continue to play, but intend to be multitasking
with other tasks they may have to do.
3. It might save server resources (but maybe bug people) if players were auto-logged out after a generous
amount of inactivity. It might not use a lot of resources I guess, except some memory for current
status/position of character etc, the memory must be dynamically allocated, and that info must be paged
to disk, you only have 1GB of RAM !! I can hardly believe it !! I remember when Microsoft Word fit on one
3.5" floppy disk (the Mac had no hard drive) and was loaded into RAM to run !! Those were the days when
people used every byte efficently !, You must have excellient coders!
4.The /warn should work with most players except as noted which probably wouldn't hear the proposed warning
sound anyway, unless they were close and could react to it. I guess it's not worth the time considering all the
more pressing matters the devs have to attend to, with the limited resources.
It was just a thought, although the Server Admins should have the /warn
Thanks for the time !
