First off, I'd just like to say hi to all you guys and gals here. I am in the middle of downloading this game and hope that I'll have a good time. I'm not really new to the whole RP scene, I've played MUDs and been in RP guilds in various MMOs. I would just like to know what people consider role playing here. I am not the person that uses the Olde English/Tea-time kind of language.
For example many people I have run into RP something like this:
Person A: Greetings good Sir! May I ask how do you do this fine afternoon?
PersonB B: Certainly! I am quite fine thank you, just out enjoying this nice fall breeze.
Person A: Oh splenid!
While I won't hold it against anyone to be like that, I tend to play Mercenaries/Bandits/Not excactly well-manered characters. It might go a little more like this:
Me: Eh! You! How you doin?
Person B: I am quite fine thank you, just out enjoying this nice fall breeze.
Me: I see, nothin like a crisp breeze eh?
I usually do away with formalities and pleasantries, even when talking to people who should probably deserve it.
Also what is considered improper roleplaying? In past games me and friends have occasionaly formed little groups and have gotten into the usually banditry. In one game we held a pass for a while, charging a toll for people passing through, mugging people who didn't pay up. Some games didn't mind, but others involved moderators setting us straight. While that is not typical good guy/hero stuff, I consider it roleplaying and really, how can you claim to have roleplaying environment if you police it? I would understand sending city guards to stop us, and I would actually enjoy that. What would be the community's opinion of those kinds of actions. My characters always seem to have a knack for living outside the law.
Anyways I hope to get some input on this, and I hope too see you all in the game!
