Perspective while sitting
« on: May 05, 2007, 02:38:39 pm »
I would like to see the first person camera angle change when sitting down. I do not consider this a bug as much as an unimplemented feature. As a kran who generally uses first person perspective it would be useful to me to have a visual cue as to the action of sitting. From the external viewpoint it would appear that the camera (at eye level) drops about 4 feet when a kran sits down but internally there is no change in the angle of view. I have not specifically noted for other races but it seems they are the same. I am not saying I should necessarily be able to tell just from the viewpoint whether I am sitting or standing, although from the animation of the kran, at least, the lower portion of the body would likely be visible when seated. I am merely suggesting that the process of sitting result in a perspective change.

It would also be nice to be able to look around in any perspective while sitting. That might call for a head turning animimation in the distant future as well.

Better yet, just give people the power to change the height of their camera.  It would be better for people who choose to RP a short Kran or a tall Demorian.

Smurfs

No, sorry, communists are against Planeshift Settings and therefore it's impossible for them to exist in Yliakum...

One thing this thread makes me wonder is about the first person camera. I assumed it was fixed for racial types as it seems to be, a dwarf's camera makes him eye to eye with another dwarf and so on for the other races. It seems, however that it is fixed in position and while it can tilt and rotate in any direction it cannot move. It also seems odd that no matter how hard you try you cannot see any portion of your body. How is this accomplished? Is the camera fixed at some point a foot or two in front of the standard racial model face? Is it affixed to the model itself but have the models rendering turned off? Is it affixed to an imaginary monopod which runs through the center of the model ensuring an invariable height from the ground again with the model's rendering turned off?

Could it be affixed to a point 5 inches in front of the models eyes with reduced left-right panning capability in such a way as to enable inspection of some portion of the body? Under this scenario if you want to look left or right you need to turn your body, is it like that already?
