Bazzar or Black Market
« on: May 25, 2007, 01:42:43 am »
What planeshift could use is a really good money well, something that sucks up a lot of money, to counterbalance the easily made money of mining or hunting. It would also keep devs from having to constantly fiddle with pricing of gold products and from having to get rid of high priced resources. I was thinking maybe have a bazzar or black market that speciallizes in selling rare or exclusive items. The prices should be out of proportion just like the amount of tria most people have. (Even a beggar in PS can accumulate 1000 tria in a relatively short amount of time.) It not really good for everybody to be able to buy any thing any NPC sells easily since that sorta messes up the economics not to mention it messes with the realism as well. Some things are only available to rich people and this probably something that should be apart of the game. This could also be a place for devs to put merchants for items that might not already have a set category. More importantly if the items are really in demand people will be appreciative of not having to muck up a quest several times just to get it, but it won't be overly easy to get the item either. Unlike 5 tria beer, these items could go from 100,000 to 1,000,000 tria easily and if it is exclusive people will have to buy it at the bazzar or black market first. I think this is better than the current system because the money won't just keep circulating amonst the players since once a NPC has the money it is gone forever :) and the prices of in demand items run that high anyway.

Oh, and just as a note the ony reason for suggesting a black market would be to justify the high prices. No theivery, PKing or any of the other stuff it's just a place of profitable business. ;)

It's called "training".

If your character has extra trias, share it with the weaker players of your guild.

Nothing to stop you running a black market. When I still played a lot I did.
Hide where they expect you to... Its what they least expect.

You assume that I train and or have a guild. Not everyone fights constantly or crafts weapons. If you don't there is no reason to bother with training those skills so that doesn't help much. Most of the other skills would need to implemented for training to suck up enough money. Might I add that people trained during the gold rush and there was still a lot of money coming into the economy.  Besides many people who train still have a lot of money.
