Fancy graphics aren't everything a game is about, and sometimes focusing entirely on graphics makes the gameplay part shallow and uninteresting, what unfortunately can be seen in many cases of commercial games. Also, I believe it's entirely impossible to compete with commercial games that have hired artists and engine programmers graphic-wise, but when you do not keep all your eyes on the fancyness, you start looking for what really makes a game interesting, gameplay, strong plotlines and immersive world content. What Planeshift urgently needs is a much more balanced gameplay and some serious fixes on unarguably faulty systems, specially the quests system, even more settings material, more places to explore and see and not fancier graphics, in my opinion. Graphics only attract people to a game, but they alone won't keep people playing it.
