dwarf movement glitch
« on: June 21, 2007, 09:02:57 pm »
Is it my imagination or does anyone else see a dwarfs arm extend seemingly out to infinity when viewed from the side and starting to move? I've been seeing this for a week or so and it is very short in duration.

Hm, I'm not seeing this at all.
Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?
Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

I actually saw it on a human too just now. might be some kind of lag effect, I don't know. For what it is worth, I use linux.

Hm, I'm not seeing this at all.
and as answer to someones suggestion to use a slower pc when saying the same in this (http://www.hydlaa.com/bugtracker/bug.php?op=show&bugid=2191&pos=21) bug report:

Which isn't something I can do.. I'm cursed with powerful machines ;) I'm not sure I can investigate this further ATM.

But anyway, that bug report is about exactly this bug :)

Karyuu: look here for examples:
http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=26613.msg303397#msg303397

For others who never experienced this, and unlike Karyuu are lucky enough to have slow machines (going to a laggy area as bronze doors helps too): the best way to see this, is to stand still for a while (in 3d persons view), than start running. It happens only one frame or so, but with a slow enough computer, it stays longer.

I have a fast PC and I'm seeing it too, but only on the dwarf model so I don't think pc speed has much to do with it, it might enhance the effect though. Last I heard about this bug it was caused by something in Cal3D. For example, my CVS build has this glitch far worse than my binary client, they use different CS & cal3d dates.

Maybe using the latest CS winlib fixes it, but for that the CS date for PS needs to be bumped I think.
We're not evil. We're simply amazing.

I am glad to see I am not alone with this experience and that there is no need for me to look for or post it on the bugtracker. It doesn't seem very serious at any rate.
