Armor/Shielding Strength?
« on: June 29, 2007, 04:07:21 am »
I've been playing PS for a few days now and I quite like it, but I'm a bit confused by the state of armor and shielding. I searched for previous posts on the issue, but they were quite dated and I wasn't sure if they still applied. Anyways, I understand how to read the stats on weapons (attack power and rate), but I'm perplexed by armor and shields. So far I've had to assume more expensive is better, but is there a listing somewhere of the various powers of armors or have the stats of such things just not been added to the descriptions yet?

Sorry if I've asked a particularly redundant question,

I'm not sure the actual armor itself has a strength. I think u just train for the armor type and it becomes more effective, so light armor for leather, and medium armor for chain etc
Let it whip!

So you're saying it doesnt matter what kind of armor it is, just your skill in that group of armors? Bugs aside, that's not right.
Character name: Cohanon. Brown-haired male human.

It does matter, a lvl 20 medium armor skill while wearing chain mail will stop a lot heavier attacks than a lvl 20 light armour skill while wearing leather armour. Only shields don't work yet, they're only around for decoration unless that changed now with the new update.

Also keep in mind that different weapons have different damage types, like blunt damage, piercing damage, ... and different armors might defend better against some.
