the "missing skulls quest"
« on: August 08, 2007, 09:11:27 am »
Hello and good morning, my fellow players and forum members.
I have a question to ask which is not easy to formulate accurately and I really racked my brain about this post.
(I turned my computer off 10 hours ago, thought about it, slept, thought once more and now I post ...)

Before I tell you the real Problem, I will start to answer the questions, about those I'm sure they would be asked otherwise:

1. If this is a Quest Issue, why do write this in the forums instead of sending a PM to Xillix?

Well, I have seen about 10 Players with the same Problem yesterday, so I think it should be disscussed public.

2. Don't you think you are complaining and should better post into the "complaint-department" than here in "technical-problems"?

I think this is not complaining but asking for help with a technical problem.

3. Did you check all other ressources before posting?

I did !  I asked in Game, I asked a GM and I searched the forum with no satisfying answers.

4. Do you think you can explain your problem without spoiling?

I hope so and will do my best.

5. Do you have other quests to do that might conflict with the one that makes problems ?

No !

6. Have you done the mentioned quest before, or discarded it?

No, this is my first attempt to this quest.

And here is my problem:

I tried to do the mentioned quest yesterday and went to T***** to get it, he gave me the quest and told me to ask D***** about this issue. So I did, and reading D*****'s answer carefully I thought I had to meet the D*** W******* for further investigation. I went there and asked and I was told news, nothing good, but I knew what to answer the quest-giver.

So I did ... and now the problems occur:

In reply to my answer (which is correct as I've heard) the quest-giver asks me to solve the problem another way and if I would be willing to try that. The answer can only be "yes" to this ... but saying "yes" to him end with one of these sentences NPC's say when they don't understand you. I also tried other words ... like "I will", "I do", "yes, I will", "Yap", "Yip", "Yop", "yes!", "YES", "YES !" and so on ... no chance.

The quest holds at this stage, I already tried to go further without an response to my "yes" but the next NPC is also not understanding me.

As I have seen, I'm not the only one with this problem and I haven't seen or heard that anyone has managed to tell him "yes", with a response ...

My questions:

1. Is this a quest, that can be discarded and maybe done in a second try ?

2. Is this a known problem and will it probably be solved within the next days ?

3. Is it possible, I did something wrong that I'm not aware of ?

Thanks for your time ...

I've heard a rumour that the NPC server instability can have quests failing as a side-effect. So I would recommend trying that quest again when all this instability is cleared up and things run smoothely again.

1. If this is a Quest Issue, why do write this in the forums instead of SUBMITTING IT IN THE BUGTRACKER?!

Good question.

I fixed the quest already, and tested it myself to make sure it worked. I completed the quest without a problem after the fix was in place. Fixes are not retroactive, so if you got the quest several weeks ago you won't have a fixed copy. There's nothing more that I can do.

PLEASE STOP ASKING ABOUT QUESTS IN THE FORUMS. That's what the bugtracker is for.
