French Community
« on: August 10, 2007, 04:47:17 pm »
Hi everyone  :woot:

There used to be a french website, but it now seems to be down. Besides, this site was far from complete.

So I suggest doing one, with basics helps, images, etc..

The question is : am I allowed to put images of the game and create a community that is unofficial ? Would you think I should do it ?

:)

Thank you all for reading.

[PS : I created the same topic on the wrong forum "Linux Specifies Issue". Please delete it as soon as possible]

You're certainly free to use PS images on a fan website :) Good luck with building one! Just keep in mind that help should be basic - no walkthroughs to quests, trainer/merchant locations, spoiler maps, etc. A newbie guide but not a spoiler guide should be the aim.

It's a tricky subject. If you make a spoiler page, it better be heavily restricted and unavailable to the average websurfer. People shouldn't find it via a search engine, and even if you require them to sign onto something, they shouldn't be able to create any account and immediately gain access. If you manually allow who gets to see what, I won't be able to do anything about it - I can only presume that you're helping out close friends. If however it takes a few seconds to 'hit the jackpot' on a website, I'll ask you to take the content down or hide it better.

The ideal situation would of course be that you have zero spoilers on your website - that way we would be much more ready to endorse it and perhaps even link it from our main page. If you're bringing spoilers into the picture, even if they are hidden, you probably won't be able to get that privilege.

Would you allow me to give the answer for two simple  quests (Like Ronant and Mirra) just to give an example about how to finish quests ?

This little help would be great, and I don't think it's a real spoiler to show how to solve this quests.

Thank you for your answers.

An answer to a quest is a spoiler - there are no exceptions. You can write your own simple quest for illustrative purposes and show what kind of phrases NPCs commonly respond to.

Heheh, it depends on what kind.

1: General Game Maps - These would include overall, very general maps such as cutaway maps of the stalactite to help describe the location of the Stone Labyrinths. It would also include general maps of the world (where the most specific it gets is pointing out cities).  These are mainly intended to immerse the player and give them an overall idea of the game world. (Examples)

2: Spoiler Maps - These maps focus on one specific area and often point out features such as monsters, loots, trainers, merchants, mines, etc. These are intended mainly to give players unfair advantages by "spoiling" what they are supposed to find on their own.  There is no reason you can't make them for yourself (you've obviously discovered it, so you have every right to make yourself a map) but those shouldn't be shared with others.

What about translating the books we can freely find in the library and in the library of the Dark Realm ?
