Cash Prizes! Weekly Storytelling Event!
« on: October 02, 2007, 08:31:04 pm »
As you may have seen him do before, Arnigus Faymore waddles his way to the Board of Public Anouncements. But this time, he seems to have left his pastries behind. He posts his notice with a bit of a self-satisfied grin, and turns to any who may be listening.

"Good news, folks! Things have been going so well, I have been given permission to make this a running event. So, I will be holding the Storytelling gathering as this notice says. Come on up and have a look, if you are interested. Why, I might even tell a story or two! Not that I could win, of course. I will see you there!"

Arnigus turns a waddles away, whistling a happy tune.
The notice reads as follows:

Competition and Event Announced!

All ye who deem yourselves skilled in the art of Wordcraft are bid to come showcase your talents on the days of [Every  weekend, Sunday, 2-3-ish PM GMT (time may change to an hour or two earlier. Will post changes.),  http://wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/] Stories, poems, and songs are all welcome!

Events will be held in Jardet’s Secret Garden in East Hydlaa.

You are asked to enter orderly, and take your places based on the chart below.

The area marked ‘A’ is for observers. Please find a good spot and have a seat.

The area marked ‘B’ is for those who wish to perform. Stand there until you are called, please.

The area marked ‘C’ is for the actual performances. When you are called, move here and give us a good show.
When done, you will be asked to join the others seated in area ‘A’ until the end of the Event.

Tell your friends! A good time will be had for all! And don't forget about the rewards!

Rewards are one to four Circles for entertaining the crowd.  The More they cheer, the more you get.
Fast tellings will double your cheer winnings!
40 Circles for third Best.
60 Circles for second Best
And finally 100 Circles to the Best!

[[OOC rules: If you are able to, I ask that you please pre-write your stories/poems/songs in shortcuts. You can do this ingame, or write it in your word proccessor of choice, and copy/paste into the shortcutcommands XML file. Easy way to do this is to go ingame, and create your shortcuts, such as Story 1, Story 2, and so on, but only write /say TEXT1, /say TEXT2 and so on in the shortcut. Save and close PS, then open shortcutcommands XML. Copy your story parts, and paste them where it says TEXT1, TEXT2, etc (don't forget to erase the word TEXT). Only one paragraph per shortcut, please. And don't forget to /me emotes to set the mood of your story or song (you do not have to shortcut that)! And, as the notice says, folks who use shortcuts to go faster will get double cheering rewards!]]

what if you can just type fast? are you penalised of the double points?  what if the mood takes the story down a different line...? you can't prewrite to heckling...   lovel the idea though.
Her Royal Highness Lolitra Hollinthy Purrty nods regally 'I am delighted to meet you' her tiara twinkles in the crystal light.

[If you can type fast, then by all means do. Most of the tellers had their text in shorter blocks, and then would pause to let folks read, then respond to any comments shortly. Freeform stories, poems, and songs are always welcome as well. I just added the pre-write as a suggestion to those who are not so good at typing fast (AKA me), and so more folks can perform in the alotted time.]]

you can't prewrite to heckling...

Don't worry, no one's going to boo you off or anything. Afterwards, some people might say they didn't like it, but somebody has to hate something. That's human nature. Anyways, People like hearing stories and stuff. They aren't going to interupt.
Have you told a Daylo 'I hate you' yet today? Do it. You'll get teleported to another area!

A place for Rexford and myself to showcase our talents and excerpts of new plays is always welcome.
