Where to mine?

I have everything required to mine, i just dont know where anything is, i spent all morning, wandering around god knows where, using my shortcut for "mine coal", and i still cannot find anywhere that works. 

Asking hardly helps, since people don't really respond, and the people who do respond, are new, like me and don't know.


So, Can someone tell me a general area of where i can mine? 

And yes, right now i am still searching

Starting to not like spoiler rule.. Well i did ask alot of people in character, most ignored, some tried selling stuff to me.
One guy was leading me then got lost and said wait here.. he didnt return.
I tried following people, asking, stalking, and no answer 

So, im just going to Macro-Dig until i find a mine, i guess.

And I'm sure it works. Maybe you should try to ask people running around with rockpicks and.. sure, sometimes needs patience  

Communication is important. Once perhaps we was offered to be led to better gold mines, even without asking.

I find it helps to have a prospecting macro with a bunch of /dig commands one to a line eg:
/dig iron
/dig coal
/dig gold
/dig silver
/dig ....whatever else you can find mentioned on the forums or ingame
then you can autorun around pressing the one shortcut and possibly find any one of those things.
For the most part I think the mines are on the black textured ground but there may be some that isn't. That macro is best used without a pick in your hand as you will immediately get a bunch of red messages across the screen when you make a hit, then all you need to do is figure out what you have found. This may be considered out of character but it is by far the best method of finding mines on your own. Who knows you may discover something no-one else knows about but that is probably unlikely.

the best place I have found to ask about mining is in front of Harnquist's store. Many characters are very willing to lead you to a mine, especially if they are going back there anyway, and they could use some help carrying something.
If you ever see me in game, feel free to ask, and I'll try to show you the places that I know (which isn't to many  )

Here's a suggestion...

Why does it matter what your mining?  How about just mine and get what's there?  And how about putting caves and mines in the world so you know where you have to go?

What's up with this game trying to make things "too" complicated.  If I go out in the world with a pick and start digging, I don't have to dig a special way to find coal.  If it's there and I see it in the dirt, I'll pick it up.
