Nightmares
« on: April 26, 2008, 05:46:08 am »
The dwarf shuffles through the gate into Hydlaa.  Dusty and filthy from many days in seclusion at the cabin, he retreats there when he needs to clear his mind.  Indygo limps along the streets making his way to Kada-El's.  Saying nothing to those that pass by, some he calls friends, notice he doesn't look well.  His once braided brown hair is falling out with streaks of gray running through.  His neatly kept beard now matted and unruly.   Keeping his pale blue eyes focused on his path they have become hazy and look heavy.  The dwarf's stature has changed dramatically.  Every step looks painful as he moves down the street slouched forward.

Once inside Kada's he he rubs his weary eyes, adjusting to the dark lighting and sits at a table near the bar.  Before too long Eurac happens along and sits with Indy for a while.  The two do a bit of catching up, they have not seen each other in some time.  Not long after Illysia emerges through the door.  Indygo's coughing and wheezing catch their attention.  He don't look well, and that cough sounds worse yet.

He tries to convince them he is fine, but Illysia presses.  Demanding an explination of his condition, Indy mumbles in Pel Perrakithor to Eurac asking him to exscuse them.  Indygo then begins to tell Illysia of the horrible nightmares that forced him from his home from complaints by his neighbors.  They claimed to hear horrible screams and banging around in the night.  Indygo would find himself in places where he did not fall asleep, somtimes bleeding.  His fear of sleep has driven him to avoid it by any means but he is weakening and the inevitable is soon to come.  As he explains to her how the dreams have affected him he yawns and his heavy eyes slowly fall closed.  Illysia offers to accompany him home to help keep him awake and safe.

As the two approach the door to his house the wind begins to pick up.  The clothes hanging to dry go from a gentle flutter to a steady flap.  Shudders on the house next door slam against the wall as Indy puts the key in unlocking the door.  Following close behind the door slams in Illysia's face.  They struggle to open the door but to no avail.  Indygo darts up the stairs to call out to Illysia.  Inside banging and clammoring can be heard from downstairs.  Seeing that the door will not open she attempts to climb up the face of the house using the wooden beams but slips back to the ground.  She looks up to notice Indygo is no longer peering through the window, and since climbing seems to prove too difficult she moves back to the door.  As Illysia approaches the door knob slowly turns and opens slightly.  With swords close at hand she nudges the door open to see the haggard dwarf laying face down on the floor.  She calls out his name and takes a step toward him.  His head quickly raises and lets out a horrific scream....

lllysia calls out Indygo's name again and rushes by his side. She desperately tries to shake him awake  but nothing seems to wake him up. She considers rushing back outside to grab he things an look for something that might help; however, she stops to consider her options. If she leaves outside the chance remains that she would be locked out and Indygo on his own once again in the house. Illysia runs to the kitchen for some water when Indygo once again screams out and begins thrashing about.

One of  the neighbors comes to the door with an angry expression fully prepared to complain bitterly about the noise. Illysia comes running back in with a pot full of water and tries dumping it on Indy to wake him up. It doesn't succeed; the neighbor take advantage of the lull as Illysia tries to figure out another tactic and decides to complain. Illysia takes one look at the hapless neighbor and fixes him with stern glare. She walks over to him and picks him up slightly off the ground and explains--in a way that leaves no room for dispute--to him that she has just come from a long trip from Ojaveda, she hasn't had much sleep in quite a few days and she is most definitely not in the mood to deal with him right now.

After setting now slightly frighten neighbor down, she turns her attention back to Indygo who has once again begun failing about. Before telling the neighbor to leave, she tells him to bring her all her things from outside in to her. After being given a glare that promised much pain, the neighbor complies with some difficulty as the sack was filled with many things half of which was now on the ground. He then returns to his own house grumbling but thinking better of interfering again. Illysia opens up her rather large sack and proceeds to crawl in and look for something that might help.

After some searching and shuffling around of the contents of her sack, she comes across some thickly sliced apples and thinks for a moment. She considers the possibility of Indygo biting his tongue and that perhaps the apple might prevent that. However, before she has time to contemplate the though further, Indygo begins to stir and groan as if someone had just hit him. Illysia immediately diverts her attention back to Indygo.
