Problem with Thorians Shield Quest and sub quest for town gaurds.

I got a quest to take a damaged shield to the blacksmith to get it repaired for free. When I gave the shield to the blacksmith near the furnaces "Harquin" or something like that, he asked me to pay him 30 trias. I was told buy Thorian to tell the repair man the the Spine Will Know if he refuses to repair it for free.

Just as I left the tavern before i started to repair the shield, I spoke to another NPC outside the tavern, which was one of those cat looking characters. She gave me a sub quest about Thorian and explained I had to investigate Thortian and find out anything if he is doind illegal activities, i accepted her quest,

Now to the problem. When I took the shield and gave it to the blacksmith, he told me it would cost 30 trias to repair it, I said something like no and he replied, what do you want me to repair it for free. When I went to reply with yes, I got one of those error messages asking to explain what I said. i tried all different ways of trying to get the quest to continue and at the end I though, I may as well just pay him, so I tried and he wouldn't take my money at all. Nothing I said or did was working and then I realised that there was a agme server malfunction and shutting down proceedure in the chat window that was counting down to zero and I gathered something went wrong and the quest got disrupted.

Now I need help with what I am to do. I don't believe i would get given another shield from thorian, but I will try, but I really need some help on what to do from here. Some insight into what I should say or do will help grately. Please understand, I am not asking for the quest answers, but with all that's happened with this problem, I am sure you understand I do need guidance, I can just hope you will allow the rules to be bent to help me with this quest and the problem that lays within.

Not to sound overly cliche, but double check what was asked of you before things went south.

If you've logged out and logged back in, you may need to go check your log files. They can be found in the planeshift directory, under "logs". Each character has their own log file.
(In windows, with the default install path: C:\Program Files\PlaneShift Crystal Blue\logs)

I think you'll find that you missed part of what Harnquist asked you.

Those 2 quests have nothing to do with eachother; they are seperate quests and not sub quests.

What about that option in the quest window that allows you to cancell quests. If I use that option, what will happen, will the quest reset and let me try it again or will I lose the quest all together. I think I heard somewhere that it allows you to restart the quest, is that true.

You can only discard quests that you can redo more than once. the most part wont be discarded if you click on that bouton
