Brown way

newbie here and I'm just wondering wherer can I go to get a brown glyph and where I can train in the brown way.

all beginner magic can be obtained and trained at least at first from the magic shop.  to figure out where that is, you can ask in game for help, and read the FAQ for a brief description on how to find your way there.

If you ask an NPC "what do you train" they should tell you. Figuring out a progression of training (who to train with at what skill levels) is part of the game, though. There's no list for you.

Does the name 'brown way' strike anyone else as being a bit ridiculous? I mean, how could our characters say it with a straight face? "Oh... you em... study the 'brown way', huh? That must be very... interesting..."
