tutorial problem
« on: February 17, 2008, 04:31:01 pm »
I finished the tutorial, then quit it 'cos I had to go grab a bite... so when I returned, I expected to be able to just say "I wish to enter the game" - but nooooooo. apparently I haven't finished the tutorial after all... and to make things perfect, whatever I say to the "teachers", they just tell me that they don't understand what I'm saying. I say "hello", and they say that they'll teach me about smithing/fighting/magic - then when I ask them to teach me, they tell me that they don't understand what I am saying.

Someone link this gentleman to the walkthrough.

In the meanwhile, thanks for bringing it to our attention that they say they'll teach you about smithing/fighting/magic. We've now removed the range-based triggers for all the tutorial NPCs except Abelia, to avoid the confusion of just walking up to the other NPCs and trying to skip through. We're constantly trying to idiot-proof the tutorial. Thanks for your efforts in helping us to achieve this goal. Happy PlaneShifting!

but that doesn't help me at all?
when I say "i want to enter Yliakum/the game/whatever" he tells me to complete the tutorial, but when I talk to anyone - they tell me that they don't understand what I'm saying.

I say: hi
Abelia Aruine says: Hello, and welcome to Planeshift! You can just ask me to give you the tutorial, or, the more traditional phrase around here, 'give me a quest.'
I say: give me a quest
Abelia Aruine says: [insert the speech about her not understanding me]

that happens no matter which one I talk to, thus I can't do the turtorial again.

Have you tried to answer the last question of Xargon again? I think he wants to know what you character will be. Try to answer "farmer" again and see if you can continue then. If that doesn't work I think the only thing you can do is writing a petition in game and get help from a GM. (Or of course you could restart with another character ;))
