Test Article: New discovery stuns alchemical world By our reporter

*Fixed by this very enticing head, you continue to read...*

Last week, alchemists finally unraveled the mystery of a new substance also known as Blue Steel. This metal is much stronger and better than any other regular steel. For a long time it was a mystery how this "Blue steel" got so strong and where it got it's blueish hue from. "We first though about impurities" Says chief-alchemists Jozian Alcha. "Since normal steel, crafted by a regular smith often has many impurities that greatly impact the longevity of the steel. However, even the highest grade of regular steel we could find was nothing compared to the Blue steel. It's simply ten times better!"

Professor and Theologian Trey Botaino says that the "Impurity Theory" does explain some things, but it doesn't explain everything. "It is certainly very pure, most of the impurities were removed by a very special and rare smithing technique. The Smith scans the steel for impurities by eye and manually smelts them out. It's a very time consuming process and only the very skilled can do it."  When we asked about the blueish color, Trey said: "I was getting there. However, after this process, something else is done to the steel. It is magically imbued by, although where not entirely sure, by Itilian shaman"

The Itilians Guild, known for their famous shaman, were a small guild of magicians and miners who terrorized locals many years ago. They were famous for their magic weapons and powers, for example the ability to banish people to a unknown void. They disappeared during the infamous conquest of the Blizzard Mages Guild, later dubbed the "Guild wars" Although the Blizzard Guild's victory relieved many citizens of the terror that the Itilians caused, they soon became a obnoxious force. Misusing their powers and demanding absurdly high taxes also known as the "Existence Tax" which served no purpose other than to buy new and improved weapons. Their force quickly shrank after a incident, where all the leaders were accidentally poisoned.

"The Blue Steel must be a remnant of that past. Something to remember the great and dark things the Itilian guild did, or if they are still out there somewhere, what they are doing right now."

The Quill
New Censor on Newspaper? By our reporter
Two days ago a reporter of The Quill was captured and interrogated by fanatic Necromancers. After returning to the HQ, completely shook up, he told his tale: Apparently they don't want the newspaper's writing about necromancy and are crearly opposed to free speech. Who? When will we know ?

A few lines remembered by the survivor. (I = Interrogator, R= Reporter)

I. Now, your article about Grendols? Who told you this information?
R. You need to know?
I. I'd like to know. Just very curious who thinks that he can spread this hidden knowledge. If we know what the persons name is, we can try to....solve the issue.
R. I can't tell you!
[The Necromancer tortured the Reporter. Edit.]
I. Now, who is it?
R. I'll, I'll tell him! If he wants to talk to you he will
I. You should not get involved with any of this research if you want your little newspaper to succeed.
R. I don't want to! I don't!
I. You can tell me. You know we hate people who talk behind our backs.
R. Who...Who are you!
I. They can hide, as they can use people like you. They use you! I'll keep this information to myself. I just want to know his name.
R. He can tell you!
I. Or you could tell me.
R. (Name Removed)
I. Oh well. We'll find him. It's a shame though. He loves us...
R. I just a innocent reporter
I. Remember. Here there is no freedom of speech. We own this place. Oh, and you will keep this a secret.
I. You can be a good reporter and shut up, or live with the consequences.
R. No threats...No Article..
I. I do not want this to get public.

After this interview the reporter was sent home. He was captured again, only this time he was found beheaded in a abandoned house.

The Octarchy has expressed it's worries about the issue. "Necromancy is a very wrong and it should be completely banned out. These kind of interrogation are wrong and should never have occured. We will find this Necromancer-group and put a halt to the perpetrators. The Octarchy will investigate the matter thoroughly and asks the public to look out for any other mysterious disappearances"

The Independent Journalist Group will follow the story closely.

The Quill Director Misunderstood for Someone else! By our reporter
Yesterday the Quill's Director, was misunderstood for someone else! "He just ran up to me and started slapping me in my face!" says a scared Director. "He started calling me names and saying I was pathetic. It reminded me back to when I was still married! Luckily I could stop the man and run away. Safely back at the Headquarters I could tell the man I was somebody else. I hold no grudge"

First of all: I have obtained several books on alchemy, all of wich merely contain recipes for turning herbs into potions. I think according to settings discovering a different kind of steel should be considered part of the 'metallurgy' skill. The blue steel in itself is in line with settings since such weapons can be looted.

Secondly, this would make a nice piece for a popular science journal, for a newspaper its a pretty dull subject :) it's not even good gossip  :detective:

Thirdly: necromancers? please forget about those

The Quill
Interview with "The Outlaws" Guild-Leader By our reporter

Although it was a rainy day, I still went out to the Ruins where I met up with a very special person. Interviews like these are rare and show a clear picture of the darker side of Yliakum.

R. Anybody here?
I. Who are you?
R. I'm the reporter you wanted to meet. Could you get out the dark please?

R. I thank you for meeting me here. Shall we start? Who are you?
I. My name is Izzabella Surruuren.
R. And what guild do you run?

I. I am one of three leaders of the Outlaws.
R. The Outlaws? You are on the other side of the law I suppose?
I. Of course.

R. This might be a strange question, but where is your guild located?
I. We are usually are lurking somewhere in the shadows, or hanging out at a tavern kicking back a few mugs.
R. Besides being sneaky and drinking ale. What are your goals?

I. Our goals are to simply be who we are, and not to let society define us and tell us how to act.
R. Hmm, that's deep. Does the Octarchy agree with that point of view?
I. Do you really want to go there? Well if you insist: I think that their laws are bogus and only benefit the rich and the well known. You really want to see children running around with sticks and stones using them as weapons? And don't even get me started on these taxes...
(Please note that The Quill does NOT support these comments)

R. What kind of people join your guild? It must be very dangerous to join.
I. We are not particular about who joins us, mainly those against the laws that have been set up by how society should be run and how we all should act.
R. Main source of incomes? How can you support your guild?

I. We can provide several services. I won't go into details or I might kill you.
R. Well let's try to not do that. I couldn't get it written down anyway. Your views on Necromancy. Good or bad?
I. You want my personal opinion on this or the guilds? I think this is a very strange question, however I've been hearing a lot about this lately so it might be worth a try.

R. Worth a try? That's pretty dark you know. But anyway, why create your guild?
I. The Outlaws have been around for nearly 18 years, We banded together to fight for what we truly believe is right, we are not about to sit around and let some rich Octarch tell us how we should act or that we should pay him Tria, to sit on his lazy bottom!
R. A very laden subject apparently. To a lighter subject perhaps? What would make you really happy?

I. Me? Haha, I'd have to say Orgonwukh makes me truly happy. However as one of the guild leaders I'd say just being able to be who we are and have fun while doing it, no one likes to act all prim and proper all the time and have to follow all these ridiculous rules.
R. That concludes our last question. Thank you very much for the interview. I hope you get to read a copy somewhere... Hello?

That was the Interview with Izzabella. She disappeared just before I was finished.

(The Quill does NOT Support any views or comments said in this article. Nor do we know anything more then said in this interview)

Well it is a newspaper, they want to capture the public, i agree that maybe new metals is a boring subject but fiction is interesting. and also, how often do you think newspapers really speak the complete truth....rumors and gossip fuel the fire man! :D
