Update for The Auto Updater
« on: April 14, 2003, 01:50:43 pm »
I\'m writing this because i\'m trying to download the new PS update with little succses i get to the weapon.zip file it gets up to 75% stops and i have to start that file for the millionth time.

what would be good if the updater could restart not only from that certain file but the part within that file that file so i don\'t have to continually download the same file and stuff up on the file for the millionth time.

also it would be good if the updater spilt the download into say 5 parts like a download browser to speed it up

another thing would be to make the auto updater more pleasing to the eye and not in a dos window which is rather an eye saw i know its only a updater but nice little touches make the gamers happy

and one more thing it would be useful if the auto updater either created an update.exe self extrating file that if you wiped your comp or somthing you could burn this onto a CD with your PS install file and when you install PS you can also install the update.exe file which saves you from redownloading all the updates again or at the very least the autoupdater made a .txt of all the updated files i had to backup before uninstalling PS

anyway great game can\'t wait to start playing again as soon as i get this annoying auto updater to download the update

it\'s functional, it\'s not supposed to be pretty.

Spoiled little brats ;), people were perfectly ok with dos screens about ten years ago.

Well, it\'s quite an hack so I should not tell you, but if you really are in trouble with 1 file for some reason, maybe it\'s too big and it fail, or whatever, remember that all files are located at http://www.planeshift.it/updater/files//

where \'package\' can be win32 or data or linux
where \'filename\' is the file you are trying to get.

If you download this file manually and place it in your install the updater will see it\'s ok and will skip it.
