buddy-list showing local time for each entry?
« on: June 22, 2008, 03:36:12 pm »
Hi all,

as there are people from all around the world playing and becoming friends, how about showing the local time for each entry in your buddy-list? It could be incorporated like this for example:

buddyname1 (nn:nn pm)

It is not *that* important but it would still be nice. Let's say, you have a buddy you want to meet next time again. If you are in Europe and he is in America it would not help you much if he said "I am online again at 2 pm". But if you would see his local time in your buddy-list it would.)

Workaround: Edit your buddy-list's entry with something like "(+5 hours)" after having asked that friend about his time once.

The server only knows the ip address of its users it has no idea what the _time_ is for each user. it would be very hard to add this and an invasion of privacy for this, as not all people want others to know even what timezone they are in.

Nice! I didn't even know that this was possible! I thought the entry had to be the name of the buddy. Thanks so much!

I see your point but I rather thought this would be something controllable by the user, meaning that he/she can (but do not have) give that info with registration or with editing of the own profile/description. So it would just be another piece of information and everyone would be free to add or leave it.
