Custom vs Quick Character Creation
« on: August 13, 2008, 05:36:39 pm »
Currently if one uses the quick character creation methon you wind up with alot more stat points (over 100 more) then if they use the custom  method. This make travelling between Hydlaa and Ojaveda alot easier, amoung other things. I was wondering if this was intended? or maybe it's a bug.

For an example: attempting to make a rouge type demorian. I get Custom stats total 378 vs Quick totaling 500. Sure you might have a handful of points sprinkled around your skills, but that seems like nothing compared too the 120+ points your not getting in your stats.

Is custom to high, or is  quick too low, both, is it a bug in the rules or the character creation engine? or none of the above?  -  thanks for any insite.

quick is QUICK for a reason it gives you a character with little thought. the custom creation is used to make your character how you want it to be and you might not get the skills just as you want but closer in most respects then the quick creation.

If what you say is true then it simply means that when you use the quick option you get far less skills because you don't specify your backgroud and such. This means that all the points that would have gone to those skills are pumped into your base stats. No bugs.

Except that getting the first few skill levels in game is cheaper (in terms in 'pp') then getting the stat levels... and I'm talking over 100 stat levels verses maybe a ten skill levels. You get skill levels when doing quick too (or are supposed to anyway) just not quite as many. In order for what you say to be true you would have to get a lot more skill levels  when custom designing your char.
