This should help. Also this is a really very frequently asked question on the forums so next time before making a new topic, please do a search. And if you want help, don't write that "the updater says some junk about something.xml"  ::).

Hi,

a search for openal.dll in this forum gave me >25hits. Without reading them I think I remember that the updater solves the problem.

What leads to the updater-problem. A search for updaterinfo.xml... I stopped again after counting to 25. The first line in the updaterinfo says "false" what wants to get changed to "true" to work.

Hope this helps

First, please don't double-post. Edit your post instead ;)

If you are on Windows, just click on your Start menu and do a search for updaterinfo.xml. Open the file in a text editor (Notepad, WordPad...), change the "false" to "true". Ready :)

That got the updater working...
i ran the updater and it did the updates
but the client  still comes up with the message when i run it

*ignore this post, i re-ran the updater and it downloaded a lot of files and now the game works*
