Client becomes choppy... Memory leak?
« on: September 30, 2008, 04:50:54 am »
Memory usage starts out at about 597,292 and then a while later ends up at 620,000 +.  And the client becomes choppy and slow to respond.

To reproduce:
- find a rat or other weak mob that cant kill you (no need to go to the DR for no reason)
Fight the mob in full defence.  Bug seems to happen faster if you fight more than one mob in full defence.

On a side note: I think combat in general causes it.  I was fighting ubers for a prolonged period of time and notice a decrease in performance.

/clear dosen't fix it.

Dose the client not clear its packet buffer?

If you are able to reproduce this, I would suggest putting this information into the bug tracker so that the testers can evaluate it.

I just reproduced it several times.

After extended periods of combat, there was a significant decrease in performance.

/clear doesn’t fix it. So I don’t think that it is the chat window.

After extended periods of combat, there was a significant decrease in performance, sometimes to the point of PS becoming unplayable if you fight long enough.

Dose the client not clear its incoming packet buffer? It could be related to combat because after a while you will have received allot of data.

My best guesses:
- Packet Buffer
- Logger: I seem to remember PS used to crash if i was looking at the logs and it tried to add to them. Now it seems there is a check to see if the log is open and if it is open, then it will wait until it is closed to amend the log.
