After reading Caarrie's post, still issues
« on: October 16, 2008, 11:18:19 pm »
i have a problam that i have yet to encounter, after changing and saving the updaterinfo.xml file to caarrie's instructions, i can not operate the updater, as the following appears :
Checking for updates to the updater: No updates needed!
Checking for updates to all files: Updates Available!

Downloading update file..
md5sum of client zip does not match correct md5sum!!
Couldn't read file /this/updaterinfo.xml.bak!
Failed to remove file /this/updaterinfo.xml.bak
Update finished!

and i have recently played the game correctly, ran into some haefty graphical trouble, and decided to reinstall. what a terrible mistake it was. i better off playing with shadows than not playing at all.

Hey all, I'm new, and I've been having the exact same problem with the updater, except that once in a while it will display the "0% ---", wait a while, then do the "0% ---md5sum of client zip does not match correct md5sum!!" thing.

I fixed the updaterinfo.xml file, have restarted my computer, and have re-installed PS, but no change.

Ideas?

I believe in this post is what you look for: http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=33701.msg387713#msg387713 (Look for the CheckIntegrity parameter. If it doesn't work please post the exact command you are using)

Oh Balls.

I clearly cannot read simple instructions meant to make my life and others lives easier.

The CheckIntegrity command solved my problem right away. There were ~85 files that failed the test, whatever that means. All is well now. Thanks for the help!
