Can't create a character

I know it is maybe a silly question and simple to you, but I have been having this problem and I am confused. I first had some OpenAL32.dll problems which i solved (thought it may be of matter with this, don't know). Now when I got the game running, I normally log in. And then I get to the character screen. And I can't do anything. I click on new character, nothing. I click on join, nothing. In the upper part it says "Waiting on server data". I have this every time I log in. I have once left it for 40 minutes to test will the sign disappear and it was still there - "Waiting on server data". Any help please?

Strange thing. The fact that you logged in with email and password proves that communication was possible. You may need a networking specialist... With a little luck, you might find some more help in the IRC channel "#planeshift-build" on the FreeNode server.

im having the same problem, which is interesting as i also tried to download on nov 14.  plz post your solution here if you find it, ill do likewise.

I'm having a large problem now! I do not know if this is of importance, but I tried updating my drivers. I downloaded the driver and installed it. All was OK, but at the end of the driver install it didn't install and said something like "a driver for this hardware/version was not found" or similar and ended. I tried running Planeshift to see if anything changed, even if the installer crashed. And now when I run it, it starts to go full screen but crashes. The screen turns black and the game starts to load into fullscreen and then it crashes. I reinstalled the game again (with the same game installer) and still same. I really don't know why am I having all these problems...

Sounds like when you tried to update drivers, that caused things to break on your system.

If you haven't already restart the pc and then run dxdiag after it boot back up and give us the output of what it states.

More hardware information, please ... Graphic chipset, driver version ... sounds like you tried to install a driver for a separate (desktop) graphic card on a system with on-board solution, an "integrated graphic processor" (IGP), although those need a "mobile" specific driver.

I am getting same error (exactly same) on my linux box.Details :

Ubuntu Intrepid 8.10
Kernel : Linux ubuntu 2.6.27-7-generic
Ati Drivers : Latest
$glxinfo | grep render
direct rendering: Yes
OpenGL renderer string: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2400
Ram : 2gb
Cpu : Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU     T7250  @ 2.00GHz

I am quite sure it is not related with gpu or drivers, since it stucks at waiting data.

Please fix this bug

I to am having problems creating a character, it keeps running out of time and tells me to try back in 5 minuts or so.

OS: windows XP  SP3
RAM : 2Gig
CPU: 2.0 Gig
VID: ATI x1650pro AGP.
everything is up to date.

GARRIN Ravinwood: Please test by creating a character as quickly as you can, choosing a random name, and a 'Quick' character creation, just to try and get it uploaded quickly.
